"Good-bye America ... you are not the country that I love and I finally realized no matter how much I sacrifice, I can't make you be that country unless you want it."
"It's up to you now."
"When I started to hold the Democratic Party to the same standards that I held the Republican Party, support for my cause started to erode and the 'left' started labeling me with the same slurs that the right used,"
"I guess no one paid attention to me when I said that the issue of peace and people dying for no reason is not a matter of 'right or left', but 'right and wrong,'"
"Casey died for a country which cares more about who will be the next American Idol than how many people will be killed in the next few months while Democrats and Republicans play politics with human lives. It is so painful to me to know that I bought into this system for so many years and Casey paid the price for that allegiance. I failed my boy and that hurts the most."

People label her as loon, idiot, wacko, etc.. Why do you feel that way? Is it only because you don't agree with her views that you have to resort to pety name calling?
Why is someone that tries to empower the people considered crazy?

The only good thing I can say about that crackpot is that she finally sounds like she wised up about the Democratic party.

I admit there were times that I would hear about her doing something and I would think "What a nut job" or something like that, but I realized she was a mother who lost her son in a war that she didn't believe in. I'm not a parent myself, but I've seen the effects of a parent losing a child. While he was not a child anymore I know he was still her son and I can only begin to understand the pain she must feel. I guess that is why it really bothered me when the Democratic party used her pain as a campaign issue. The Democratic candidates know that their voter base is made up of very caring people. They also know that many are lead more by their hearts. They took advantage of her pain, and their caring nature and after they got what they wanted they forgot about her. I feel more for her now then I did before. I still disagree about the war, but she deserved better from the party that benefited so much from her suffering.

Ms Sheehan gave us a personal glimpse at a mother in pain over the loss of her son. We know better how this war affects the families of the troops and their losses. It is shameful that we can ignore it and reduce it to a 60 second sound bite before changing the channel. We are a spoiled indulged society and until we straighten out we will never give a damn about this war or any other tragedy unless it comes on before American Idol or Dancing with the Stars. So i suppose we must schedule our military conflicts with the fall lineup if we want people to care.

Cindy Sheehan knew the possible price both she and her son could pay by his enlistment in the service. Whether the war is right or wrong, that is the sacrifice our soldiers make for us in order to keep us free.
She can preach from the highest mountain in the country because of what her son, our soldiers, did. They paid the ultimate sacrifice for her. Us. Let her go to Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, or any other country that does not treat women with the same respect we do. See if she opens her big fat mouth there.
Thank God she is going away! Let's just hope it is for good.

Ms. Sheehan handled her approach to public speaking to influence other Americans to support her perspective very badly. When it came to be public knowledge that her son lived the majority of his childhood with his father while she continued to pursue grass roots politicking it did not reflect well. Her actions, to many, are considered to be disrepectful of the decision of her adult son to join the service. All Americans feel that its a matter of right & wrong, but they define that in different ways, not necessarily in agreement with her point of view.

The Democrats used her just as they used Norma McCorvey, who was the Jane Roe of Roe v Wade! Now that they've turned on her, like they did Norma, she's taking her bat and ball and going home! She should feel shame for dishonoring her son's memory and what he stood for! She has put her name down on the same level as "Hanoi Jane"!

Yes. Made me realize the media only covers whackos on both sides of the debate and doesn't listen to the common citizens.

I am sad that Cindy Sheehan lost her son in a senseless war. I am ashamed that George Bush chose to ignore her instead of trying to console her. Unless you have lost a child, you have no right to judge her. You cannot know the pain she feels. She only tried to make his loss count for something. Would you deny her that?

She woke me up to the fact that this country no longer has the will needed to face the problems in this world. If we ever had to face another Dday half of the country would want to turn back and give up.

Indeed.
I'm sure now that there are more people out there like her seeking to use the tragic circumstances of another to garner sympathy and attention.
I pity her. She needed psychiatric help, but people instead exploited her for political gain.
