The government doesn't actually make money off of the sale of Marijuana because they refuse to just legalize it, and tax the sh!t out of it.
Certain people in government make money off of it - in the form of bribes from the people making large amounts of money from the sale of marijuana - who want it to be kept illegal so that they can keep the prices high.
The 'war on drugs' is a joke. They can't even slow down the supply of drugs pouring into this country.
As long as there is a demand, there will be a supply.
As long as we treat drug addiction as a crime instead of a medical condition, we will never make any progress.

No. Every gram of marijuana that is bought or sold in this country generates zero revenue for the federal, state or local government.......unfortunately. Potential tax revenue is one of the strongest arguments for legalization of cannabis.

It depends on your point of view. By making it illegal and confiscating drug dealers' homes, cars and belongings, which are later sold...the government makes money.

they could probably make some. but it's so easy to grow marijuana that they can't control the production of it. that's one of the reasons they make it illegal.
