Because the Christian Right Wing runs the country. They spout excerpts from the bible while they commit adultery, bounce checks, lie and scare people.

I honestly don't know, and I find it such a STUPID law. It's not like it would cause something bad to happen (gay hate crimes ALREADY occur), so why not? It's probably either because of the decrease in the number of children born in the world, or because homophobics would go into an uproar over it. But I personally think that these two con's are kind of weak. I mean, we have an encredibly large human population in our world, so much that children in poorer places are being starved/dehydrated to death, and the Constitution and other documents should protect the gays/lesbians; they have the right to express themselves if it doesn't endanger the well-being of the population.

Anyone willing to enter into the state of marriage (providing you are consenting adults) can be married here in Canada. Some of our churches will accept a gay wedding without any problem at all. In most cases it is up to the pastor/priest and the church itself. I have yet to find where it says in the Bible that gays are 'unholy' etc. etc. Don't forget that the Bible we know today has been interpreted and reinterpreted by successive generations. 'Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.' Isn't our God a loving God? The edict about preiests not marrying is not universal, and if you read history, you will find that even some Popes had children...just a thought.

Because marriage is a contract made between man and God. So long as religious institutions stand against marriage and refuse to condone it, a union between two members of the same sex is not a true marriage. And I can guarantee that any true christian church is not going to lift that ban. The problem with most of those churches is they are also very discriminatory against homosexuals, which is retarded. Gay people are no worse than any other people, and because of that, we should not be judging them for their homosexuality, but we shouldn't promote it either.
I would also postulate that a sexual relationship between two members of the same sex is not comprised of real love.

If gay marriage was allowed it would not be a sacred thing between a MAN & a WOMAN! God did not take a rib of
Adam to make a man, he made woman with it, so that Adam could be with Eve (a woman) If you are gay that is great, but do it in your home. It is not right. Two ppl of the same sex do not belong together.

marriage if for children taxes, schools, political stuff
in the old days gay sex was just sex
things are changing
it's up to you gay people to show us straight people how serious you are about fitting in with the mainstream stuff
act normal, look normal, say normal things, fit in
America needs families with children and you need to raise good smart well balanced normal kids who can be productive members of SOCIETY
like I said things are changing and you people are doing a good job
stay with it and don't freak out so much

Because some people are ignorant. They don't understand that two people of the same sex can love each other unconditionally. It's sad really. They change "rules" that have been abided by for years...no confession before communion and what-not...yet two people who would do anything for the other...don't deserve to be treated the same as straight people?? That's messed up.

Because gay is not normal. Bodies of the same sex can't make love. The word sex has been used loosely by people and organization trying to be politically correct at any cost.
Sex is only between a man and woman, seek counseling.

It's all a religious thing. The bible says that being gay is wrong. Men wrote the bible, not God. It is only someone's opinion. Some day, it will be accepted. For now, you do what you have to do.

Grow up! You can love anyone you want but you don't necessarily get the benefits. Should a mistress be covered on her lovers insurance along with his wife?
