Will the DX 10 support DX 9.0c too?

Interesting question so I did some checking for this. From the Microsoft site (link below) it appears that they are supporting mixed DirectX within an application but not within the same component (basically COM objects). I didn't see anything specifically saying a card would support it but at least at the software level there shouldn't be any problems.

NOTE: Even though Microsoft is not intending to support DirectX10 for XP, keep an eye on the Alky Project for an open source solution for older Microsoft operating systems.

Vista comes with DX 10 and a emulator of DX 9. So yes DX 9 games will still work with Vista. However the emulator is not as good as the original DX 9 so you might notice a slight frame rate drop in Vista, vs. playing on Windows XP. However Vista only supports Direct X 9, and 10. No games that use direct x 8 and below will be compatible as I believe.

no, and DX 10 is for Vista btw. 9.0c is the only xp version out i believe. Ive installed 9c already then installed 10 and it said it was for windows vista and it never overrode the 9c so that tells me 10 does not work with xp, only vista and 9c is the version for xp right now
