It is an apple codec. Relatvely lossy. Relativley big files and only mediocre sound. I have heard they're coming out with an aac2 which should leapfrom wma. (leapfroggin benefits us consumers) If you can use better file formats, switch. If not, alot of plays will open aac. Remember to consider "digital rights".

AAC is Itunes file (Advanced Audio Coding). Lots of standardized media players will play it, too though. I know Real Player does. Try that.

You can play it with media monkey. It will also convert it to MP3 so you can play it with a portable player or other software that you like to use. If it was purchased on iTunes, it may be copy-protected and unable to be played. If you purchased it, you can burn it to a CD and re-rip back to get it into MP3 format.

use any good media player. a great free player is vlc media player. it can be downloaded from videolan.org
