I don't think every (fill in the blank with every profession) is ever going to be ethical or honest. There are bad people in all walks of life in all types of professions. It is sad but it is the way of the world.

Several years ago I had what I thought to be a very good friend with a friendship lasting more than 8 years. I started to notice how this friend would change jobs fairly frequently to finally learn something was not right.
Come to find out....this person, who started off as an extremely good paramedic/emt, began taking meds off the ambulance and used his position to fraudulently obtain pain medications.
His world came crashing down on him once he got hooked on the drugs he was stealing.
So...not all paramedics, or any other profession for that matter, is free from one or two bad apples.

Paramedics are highly trained, skilled medical professionals. We are NOT ambulance drivers. Driving an ambulance is one very small part of our job. As a rule, most paramedics are an honest and trustworthy group of people that really care about their patients well being. As with any profession, there are always exceptions. I don't know your story, but based on my experience working with paramedics and firefighters, I would give them the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.

I pretty much agree with what's been said - there are bad people wherever you look and unfortunately, when these people are in positions of trust they may take advantage of it.
I have, however worked as a Paramedic in the UK for 5 years and I have to say that on the whole I work with good people who are in it to help others.
I'd also be wary of believing every second hand story about such things - false accusations are made all the time.

As in every profession, there are always going to be some unsavory types, but when it comes to EMS, most of the paramedics/EMT's tend to be rather ethical.
The pay sucks, the hours are long, most people don't respect us, and the work is backbreaking and emotionally intensive...most of us are in EMS because we love to help people. In general, the vast majority of paramedics/EMT's are honest people who genuinely care about helping their fellow man.

No. We handled an estate once where the decedent was badly injured in an automobile accident and later died. Members of the family claimed the ambulance driver or paramedic stole his watch, ring, and money from his wallet.
Nobody was able to prove anything.

No. There are bad employees in every occupation. I know of a case in my state in which an EMT was stealing narcotics during transport of patients. That was probably 20 years ago.

Why do you ask?
I am sure they are not, but you need to specify in relation to what?
