teach her to throw side arm or how to twist her wrist as she's releasing the ball so that it goes straight and not arched.

the only way to break that is to show her that its ok to give up the arch for speed even if you have to 1 or 2 hop the throw. have her look at the way short stops or catchers throw the ball, they will purposley one hop the ball to get it there faster. i had that same problem as a catcher in little league and high school and got moved to the out field temporaraly because i could throw the ball far but still had the same problem there. i learned to on hop my throws, went back to catcher and was much better at that. but dont think you have to adapt her to a different position to suit her throw, have her watch those type of pro players and explain why they do that and have her practace doing that. a good way is to use a 5 gal bucket, lay it on its side and have her throw from a distance and get the ball in the bucket. it takes a while to break a bad habit but with prctice it will come around, and to prove it to her have her throw it her way and this way and use a stop watch to time her throws then show her the difference

For my school middle school people still arch the ball. We had a drop down net that we would stand on 1 side of the gym and someone on the other and wed have to throw under the net. If it touched it then we would have to throw 10 more perfect straight balls. Also tell her dont try to push the ball when she throws. Bring her arm around her like a sling shot.
