Why is the 5th. My journalist teacher told us the 5 whys and the how are questions the reporter should find out prior to writing a story.

As you've seen already, the answer is Why, as in Who, What, Why, Where, When, and How.
As long as you remember that Who is on first, What is on second, and third is I Don't Know, you should be pretty set.
