I think they looked good with them. I seen a 1976 MSG basketball game here and they all had them.

Why won't they wear them today?

Why are you grouping every black person under the word they or them ? Some black people choose not to wear afros and some do. We can change our hairstyles the same way that any other race does such as the white men don't all wear their hair in crewcuts or long anymore. My question would be why do I see so many young white men with shaggy hair all over their head and skin tight pants on?

I have an afro and before I cut my hair off I was always wrrying about what people would think of me. Esp. in the military they did not aprove of it they used the excuse that I could not wear my head gear so I needed to fix my hair. When I was a soldier it was white men that could not handle it then in the end it was my whole unit that had something to say about it. I was in a relationship (if thats what you would call it) he could not handle me not having a relaxer of course he went his way and I am still wearing my fro.

How come whites don't wear Afros anymore? How come no one wears bell bottoms or fidoras or powedered wigs or stockings or anything else that used to be worn in the past? Fashion comes and goes. What looks good has little to do with it.

All people get tired of fashion and want to try something new and different.

Here's what's new for females (and it started with the Black Community): buzz cuts or bald heads for women.
