Of Course it's okay!
***Remember: You are Pregnant. NOT sick or disabled. Getting SOME sun is good for you and the baby. Just make sure to use the proper sun screen, and reapply often!***
Have Fun :-)

Being in the sun is OK, but you should wear sunscreen. Some pregnant women get the 'mask of pregnancy' when exposed to the sun while pregnant... it can cause darkening of the skin in patches on the face and in some women it may not fade after pregnancy. Also, be sure to keep hydrated. Drink plenty of fluids and try not to let your body temperature get too high... if you are laying by a pool, make sure that you hop in to cool off every so often.

I used to love tanning outside but ever since I am pregnant i've been feeling paranoid at almost every lil thing. Now I'm scared to go in the sun because I know there's a risk of having skin cancer. It's better just to use tanning lotion, make sure you ask the doctor if the tanning lotion you're planning on using is safe to use.

When I was 4 mos pregnant, we went to Cancun for a few days. I avoided the hours out in the sun between 10am-4pm when the sun was strongest, and wore lots of 30-45+ sunblock, a floppy hat and sunglasses because of the potential reaction of the skin to the sun (getting uneven dark patches and such, especially on my face). I wore my bikini regardless. If we were outside during the hot hours, we were under an umbrella next to the pool. I brought a water spray bottle and spritz myself when I got warm, and kept well hydrated with non-alcoholic frozen drinks and water! The idea is for you to keep your baby and yourself cool. If it got too hot, we headed inside. Have fun!

I laid out in the sun until I got too big to lay on my stomach (didn't want an uneven tan).. Just as long as you dont over heat.. I bought me a kiddie pool to lay in so I could keep cool. Also try not to get sunburnt which would be uncomfortable for you on top of being pregnant.

A very good question.
It's best at this point to check with your doctor before doing so.
Also, do you have the wonderful books "What to Expect While Expecting" and "What to Expect the First Year"?
They have so much great information, including about tanning, hair dye, things you would think of.
There is also one for the Toddler years. Many new moms get these books and they are a true treasure and help.
Good luck and congratulations!!

Be careful as the sun efects your skin differently when your pregnant- especially on your face. I and a few friends have all had what is called a pregnancy mask. It is like darker patches of skin, sort of like a cluster of freckles and in shows up mainly on your forehead, cheeks and above your lips. If I were you I would wear a hat and sunscreen and just tan your body.

As far as I know it doesnt hurt the baby. Just make sure you drink lots of water and be cautious. Your more sensitive to the sun while pregnant. I am a redhead so I normally burn after being outside for a few hours anyway but while pregnant I got burned just being outside for an hour.

I have been lating out in the "real" sun since about April, I was 7 months and I got burned a couple of time. The doc said it's fine as long as I stay hydrated and don't get overheated. If you get too hot then go inside or get in the pool.

I wonder that myself too. I am 9wks. Anyway, I think it's fine. Just make sure that you don't get to hot that you go inside and cool down once in awhile and stay hydrated. Where sunscreen with at least some SPF.
