Im a student looking to get a Macbook for school. There is an Apple Store opening near me in August. So I was wondering if any1 knows if they offer any discounts above and beyond what I can get from their online store. Do they offer any grand opening specials that are exclusive to that Apple Store? Can I save more money by buying my Macbook at the newly opened Apple Store as opposed to ordering online?

No, it's actually FULL retail price. I've been to two openings. You are smart to wait as long as possible before school before you buy so prices might drift down and specs drift up. Apples are great and very reliable. Have you considered buying from the school, you'd qualify for educational insitution discount.

When they opened the Apple store in my area they offered some specials on specific items for the first week or so. They weren't bad, but they weren't that significant either, they were mostly for iPods. Have you looked into their Educational discount? As a student you qualify for it. I used it before to buy certain items. They also have refurbished items for sell which can save you big bucks if the discount on new items is still not enough. These items do carry a 1 year warranty from Apple. I am including both links for you.

Nope... Just like the first person said, they are full price... Ive also been to 2 openings... Usually the only things they have sales on are just small accessories... even weeks after the opening... The only sales i have ever seen on the notebooks themselves, is when it is old and they are desperate to get rid of it, but even then its only around 100 - 200 dollars off...

I personally own an apple notbook and an hp notebook with windows vista... i like them both the same so i cant say that either one is a better brand, microsoft or apple... but in terms of price, the HP was a little cheaper...

To my knowledge all Mac prices are set no matter who the seller is. The only variations in price come from old models, refurbished, and professional/educational discounts (which you should be eligible for).

I don't think apple EVER offers any new store discounts (aside from their regular student ones and such).
