I have been very facinated with vampires, and as I get older, it grows more. Would you say they are real? Or just some make up story? I mean, even in the past there have been records. But now there are so called modern vampires, but thats not what Im looking for. No fakers, who live their lifestyle. I mean, real ones. I want good answers, no smart-*** comments, this is a serious question. Dont get your answers from movies, or fiction books either.

(Im not asking for proof they dont exsist, or modern vampires, cult. I dont want you to try and bust the myth, Im asking, do you believe in them? Why? I've studied this, so I dont need you to teach me or lesson me on old times, and vampires, and why people thought they were real or not. Just asking for opinions, and why. God..)

No, I don't believe in Vampires. And as far as I am concerned, they never existed and have been completely explained. This myth is busted.
People used to believe in Vampires because they didn't understand Biology. When a corpse has been in the grave for a while, it appears that the hair and nails continue to grow and that the blood in the heart remains red and fresh looking for a while. Dig that up and you'd believe int he walking dead. Also, people didn't understand disease vectors so when people got mysteriously sick, the living went looking for an unearthly explanation. Finally, the past had a lot of real sick people in it. Ivan the Terrible, Catherine Bathory. when you come upon that type of depravity, it's easier and more convenient to think that maybe this person wasn't exactly human.
When studying ancient beliefs it's necessary to forget some of what you know and think as they did. I think that using Occam's razor, Vampirism would explain the above three coincidental circumstances very well to the ancient mind.
And that's why there are no vampires, and there never were - someone ones said "What need have we for demons, all the attrocities of the world come from the human soul."

From my experience as a witch I have determined that there are three kinds of vampires.
1. Psychic Vampires - people who are able to "suck" the energy right out of a room or a person. these folks will seek you out for the information that they can gather, the support that you can offer, your own personal spiritual energy. some are aware that they have this power and others don't even KNOW that they do this and therefore don't or can't control it.
2. "Movie vampires" - the "Nosferatu" folkks who were alive but through some transformation have become "undead" and live forever, etc. (the fake Vampires)
3. Genuine Vampires - These are beings that DO exist, usualy off by themselves and DO drink blood, not necessarily the blood of people, mostly animals or their OWN blood but ALSO require normal food to supply their nutritional needs as well. They are NOT immortal and look like any other person and can and DO live in the real world, including daylight hours. There are not all that many of them and they tend to be VERY secretive about themselves but if you're attuned to them psychically, you can "sense" that they're around. they Don't kill people (like in the movies and horror books), they just want to be left alone and not bothered or hunted down.
That's about all I know on the subject but there ARE sites and books by and about them if you look hard enough.

NO I DONT BELIEVE IN THEM. :-X
Living here in Transylvania, (I kid you not) I am in a town called Deva, Hunedoara, (web-search if you want) :-P
I came here from Ireland, and people in the west always had a pre-conceived idea (blame Bram Stoker).
In the country areas the old people believe there are people who live amongst them who are vampires, they believe they have lost their souls and will try to steal the souls of young children or a person who is not careful to observe all the religious traditions.
When the "Vampire" dies they have been known to open the grave, remove the body from the coffin be-head it, and cut out the heart, into which, they drive red-hot nails, this they believe will stop the vampire returning in spirit form to bring more evil into the village.
The Priests and Police are actively trying to stop this belief, but occasionally, a country grave gets desecrated causing grief for the family of the dead victim, sometimes many months after the funeral.
Old superstitions take a long time to die away.

Well now that depends on your views, on what a vampire actually is, if you mean Vampires as in how they are portrayed in movies, you know turn to ashes in the sunlight, garlic burns them, then no, they do exist but not in the forms you think they do, there are many who call themself Vampyre or Vampires, there is an order they call the sang for short, they drink blood, and practice magic etc.., then there are those that call themselves Vampires and actually are not, they are people playing dressing up, then there is the TOV, Temple of the Vampire, i believe this is the one true Vampire religion, they do not drink blood but they do partake of life force, they also practice magic, and i know from experience are very powerful, what is meant for you will never pass you by, keep looking.

well my answer is not from a fiction book but i have done alot of reaserch into it and find that the modern day vampire is i think they call it a phsychic vampire they are like normal people that require energy from other people there are plenty of non-fiction books on them if that is what you are looking for but as far as the whole movie, turning into a bat, vampire i dont think they are real but there are people that have a strange urge for human blood so yes in my opinion there are real vampire in the world but keep in mind that is only my opinion

i agree with the first one too i think there are people who believe they are vampires i dont mean as in they live for ever unless you stake em through the heart or anything but the drinking of blood is done by many people around the world in some places they drink the blood of there dead so they can stay with them for ever! i dont know if that counts as being a vampire or not but if there was such things a the ones you see in films why have we not had a world epedemic of them it would be all over the news would'nt it?

TECHNICALLY SPEAKING..YES THERE ARE ACTUALLY FOLKS LIVING ALL OVER THE WORLD THAT WOULD BE CONSIDERED AS SUCH-THOUGH NOT EXACTLY AS YOU ARE THINKING---MODERN PSYCHOLOGY LISTS THE WORD **VAMPIRISM* AS A SEXUAL DEVIATION-person(s) who are erotically aroused by the ingestion of blood, usually, but not always, from another person. THIS DOES EXPLAIN WHY MOST VAMPIRES CAUSE THEIR VICTIM TO LOOK SO VERY ORGASMIC-WATCH ANY VAMPIRE MOVIE AND YOU WILL NOTICE THAT VAMPIRES ARE PORTRAYED IN AN ERROTIC OR SENSUAL MANNER- AND THE VICTIMS USUALLY LOOK A BIT PLEASED TO HAVE HAD A GOOD BITE IN THE NITE.

I have encounterd varios forms of vampirism and know that ther are thing (precautions) that should be taken alittle more seriosly than they are, but the last thing we need is another atempt at genocide, because I also belive in a balanced natural order
all versions and species (whether predatory or domestic) of vampire has it's own 'glass ceiling' that prevents over population and ther are also regional genetic strains of norms that are resistant to the genetic spread of two versions
in the apalation regions and deeper south amongst the vodun clans (the 'hunger' doesn't become a symptem) .
ther are 'psionic vampires' that produce alphawave inhibitors in their limbic nodes causing violent seisures and animalistic tendancies (giving rise to tales of werewolves and halfmen) In truth a simpe genetic tangent that developed in the 1800's nort america but they learned that combining varios tantric meditations (helped with the chemical imbalance)with a few disciplines that are closly related to the discepline of tai chi (the focusing of will that alows one to manipulate your own e.m. field)they were able to shield themselves from the geological hazards that trigger an episode (ley line convergence causes a distortion field that disrupts brain chemistry) like large loadstone deposits in the apalation region.or the full moonalso a big e.m. factor
they still have to'feed'(the drain of e.m. energy) but there are norm population resistant to 'infection' due to interbreeding
another hundred yrs. or so the clans will probly dilute to extinction.
Physical vampirism has mostly been atributed to two genetic blood disorders and raw psychosis thru history(the jersy devil, jack the ripper, vlad the impaler) but there are theories in parapsychology that could back up some of Anne Rice's version of vampirism( physical possesion leading to a chemical dependancy transferable by a 'root host' to branch drones)
'd be intrested to hear some of your hardcopy reserch to augment some of the geo.pop. tracking that i've done in the past (I'm trying to establish a timeline to the next 'shift' in a few strains of genetics in 'normal' population regions towards the next stage. some are regressing to extinction while seemingly weaker strains are proliferating but with the widespread panic due to the war-paranoia info is hard to come by.

Yes i believe in vampires. I think that they are and were real, but will not reveal themselves because people fear what they do not understand and destroy what they fear. And no, I do not mean the idiotic little teenagers who THINK they have been "awakened" to being a vampire.
There are also psychic vampires, but that is a totally other thing. (again, not the kids)
