I like Bush. I don't always agree with him, but I like him. First and foremost, he does not govern by polls, he leads by what he feels is the right direction for our country. He has had to make some very hard decisions and I think that he did have the best interest of the nation at heart. Iraq is a broad subject and an important one. The History of the Mid-East can write a new chapter if things work out in Iraq. Like it or not, he is responsible for freeing 2 countries from oppressive leaders. I will admit that Bush has made many missteps in handling the war. I think that can be blamed on his unwavering support for those around him. This quality can be both good and bad. Our economy was entering a recession after he took office and took a hard hit on 9/11. I think that his tax cuts helped dig us out of that hole. I am disappointed with his stance on immigration and control of our border. All in all I think that the left has attacked him way too much and he has failed to defend his position. This has hurt him. It would help if Bush was a better public speaker. I believe the reason for such hate from the left is payback for Clinton being impeached.

I think I would like the man if I met him. I voted for him in 2000 then against him in 2004. I liked the tax cuts but the war was why I couldn't vote for him again. He insulted all our intelligence with slogans like "Stay the course" and "If we don't fight them over there we will have to fight them here". A nation at war is a nation that is under attack or has no good ideas. I don't think America fits into either category. Yet, we are at war with a small irrelevent nation. Our men and women in the military did not sign up for that. Think of all the infiltration and intelligence gathering we could do for $30 billion a month. The war on terror could be so much more effective without the occupation. I know I am harping on one single issue but being reckless with human life is too big to ignore.

I think that the biggest problem that I have with the president is that he has surrounded himself with people that do not have any moral character. If you look at the people that he has put in positions, they have lied, cheated, and stole money. He is loyal to those people (which is a good trait) but should never have put them in those positions.
He also has changed the constitution (with the help of congress) to reduce the freedom of the citizens. He has allowed the CIA to torture citizens and combatants illegally.
Plus (mishandling the war, high deficits, lies to the citizens, and everything else that has been laid out over the last 4 years.)

Hmmmm. Like or Hate our only choices? Well I will pretend that you asked if he is a Good or Poor President.
Poor.
His reaction to 9/11 was correct in many ways (invade Afghanistan, step up security efforts) but Iraq was manifestly wrong. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 attack and that was known before we invaded them. After 10 years of sanctions and pressure, Hussein did not even have control of his entire country. He was no threat to us, and only a mild threat to the region. He did not have the WMD's that we claimed he had and even if our claims were not known to be false at the time, they were certainly tenuous and exaggerated. One does not go to war on that and it was a devastatingly poor decision. He continues to discuss Iraq as though it were the war on terror, when the actual war that is actually battling (not creating) terrorism is being waged by diplomats, citizens, law enforcement, and intelligence services. Reasonably successfully, thank God, in spite of the Iraq sideshow quagmire of our own making.
The republican congress spent, spent, spent and he never vetoed a thing. That tells me he listens to the political strategists who tell him that for the Republicans to stay in power you must let the pork flow, instead of the policy and economic strategists that say we can't increase the national debt by 50% and not burden our future generation. The result is we have a 9 trillion dollar debt instead of a <6 trillion dollar debt when he took office.
He is the only President in my lifetime to advocate a constitutional amendment to restrict rights and freedoms. We are a free country. Denying same sex couples the right (at the federal level) to form a family when that right is left to the states to decide on for everyone else is an egregious assault on the Constitution and what it exists for. Fairness, justice and equal protection under the law are everything we stand for. When our guiding document gets in the way of one group wanting to deny another a right that they themselves enjoy, amending that guiding document is not the answer.
Along those lines, he has usurped the very Constitution he swore to uphold and defend. He ignored the will of congress and the spirit of the 4th and 5th amendments with his wiretapping. I am all for eavesdropping on the bad guys. The law he chose to violate allowed him to order the wire taps and get clearance later. He deliberately decided not to. talk about a slippery slope. He ignored the separation of powers and violated the bill of attainder and Ex Post Facto clauses of the constitution when he signed the Teri Schaivo bill. His claim was that he essentially values life more than the Constitution, but this same man signed over 100 death warrants as Governor of Texas (granting only one clemency in 6 years) and stated an unnecessary war that has cost 3000 of our finest their lives and many, many more Iraqis.
He has staffed the cabinet and agencies with Ideologues and cronies. This is not uncommon among presidents, but the results for this presidency is pretty bad. The level of extremism or incompetence is staggering: Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Brown, Gonzoles, Bolton.
What many Bush admirers see as steadfast resolve, I see as dangerous stubbornness. The war and its continuation is a mistake. Tax cuts enriched his friends today at the expense of our children
and grandchildren. His pride at not reading newspapers or considering opinion polls tells me his mind is made up, and the will of the people, or wise counsel of those in the know is of no use to him. This is not leadership, it is managing an agenda.

I'm a fan of Bush the reasons are quite cut and dry. When he took office he took it in peace time and had no intentions of war when taking office. On 9/11 when war was brought to america bush responded and in his response he made it clear that terrorism would not be tolerated. He was the first president in american history to attack terrorism and take it on as a real threat. Also when he makes his decisions and policies he doesnt worry about the legacy that he leaves behind, all the he worries about is how safe america and the world is. Also to get away from terrorism during his adminstration america overcame a possible depression post 9/11 and has made america's economy into a powerhouse.

I don't waste my time hating Bush.
His record stands for itself.
Illegal Wiretaps
Lies about WMD's
Illegal Invasion and occupation of a country that DID NOT attack us.
Record defecits.
Ignored warnings preceding 9/11 attacks.
Ignored warnings preceding New Orleans levy system failing.
National gaurd has insufficient manpower and equipment to handle natural disasters and other emergencies due to men and equipment being tied up in Iraq.
Thousands of dead soldiers, and tens of thousands with serious injuries, missing limbs, and untold tens of thousands of iraqi civilians dead.
Billions (repeat: BILLIONS) of dollars literally lost (repeat: LOST) in Iraq.
I don't like democrats or liberals any more than I like republicans or conservatives - but the actions of this administration are inexcusable.
Impeach Dick.
Then impeach Dubya.
