I have. I learned to type on one of those too.

Here's a better question does anyone know someone that still uses a manual typewritter on a regular basis? I do.

Yes, it was a pain to use the white out strips. You had to hit and place them just right. We then got an electric typewriter that had a screen across the top of the keyboard. The screen only showed about four words at a time in about a 14 point font. My sister and I wrote many term papers on it though. Too bad I lost the original copy, I thought it was a great paper.

I also learned on a regular typewriter. But I could not imagine using one now since I have so many typos. When I used a regular typewriter, I spent more time using white out on the typos than actual typing.

My Dad had an Underwood typewriter in his office and I learned on it. It was so very hard to type on it. I could never get up any speed on it. I still have a manual typewriter, but it's a lot easier to type on.

Yes.
I first touched a typewriter in 1972. I was in elementary school.
As a Senior, I took typing, and learned to use an electric (my speed never got beyond 30-40 WPM though).

I've never really been able to touch-type though. I always need to look at the keyboard.
When I play guitar, I need to see the fretboard.
Martial arts are about the only thing I can do without looking, it seems.

Yeah. I actually collect typewriters. I don't know why. I guess I just like older stuff for nostalgia. I have an old 1910 cast iron typewriter (very heavy). It still types pretty well.

Me too, learned on an old underwood in the 7th grade. I actually own a smith corona electric typewriter. It's holding the plywood down in my attic.

I learned to type on an old royal typewriter in high school.

My dad gave me one years ago. I was always so productive on a manual typewriter.... maybe I should buy another one :) All I ever do on my laptop is play games and surf the net.

Yes, I used to type on my father's manual. I had an IBM Selectric and I was a better typist on that than on a computer keyboard. I also miss the sound the keys made when they struck the ribbon.
