What sort of animal testing?
I don't like the use of animal testing by companies like L'Oréal.
On the other hand, it is very important to test vaccines or cures for people on animals first. The value to the life of an animal will always be less than the value to the life of a human. If someone is going to die because a vaccine failed, it is better that an animal die than a human and it is critical to continue to perform drug research to improve health. One does of course start off with smaller animals and work up to more conciously aware mammals when drug testing.

Animal testing serves no purpose. Animals are not humans and will not respond in the same way. It's cruel, inhumane and unnecessary. I think we are at a point where we know whether a chemical is dangerous or not initially, with no need to torture animals. And don't we already test on humans with voluntary medical trials, experimental drugs, etc.?

You mean we should test chemicals on humans? Not a bad idea- surely there are plenty of desperate starving people in the world we can test our chemicals on. Maybe we can make a test centre in Bhopal in India. The people there will get used to it sooner or later...
Or maybe we will test on the political prisoners in China? That would be neat- and cheap too. Whatever remains after the tests can be converted to cat and dog food. Assuming of course it is safe for our pets to eat.

while I don't condone cruelty to animals, needlessly inflicting pain for fun/sport etc,you have hit the nail on the head when you said close to us as humans. They are NOT humans Therein lies the vivisection arguement. To do or not to do.Also you never know when you may need an extra ear/feeler/hoof /tail growing out your backside

Unfortunately, for some drugs computer models and tissue samples do not truly show the effects of the drug.

Only for medical research and the development of new drugs and treatments.
Other than that purpose, it is cruel and inhumane.
