I saw a girl with a Hooter Hider the other day and I was wondering if anyone knew how to make one or where I could find a site to get some ideas. If you dont know what it is, please dont waste your time by answering this. My baby hates wraps and slings and fabric being on his face so nursing discreetly is challenging but a light blanket does the job. I don't really have to have one so I dont want to pay $35 or more for one...I would rather make one. I looked but I cant find anything that is close to that. Thanks!

A friend made one for me as a gift. I'm sure it was cheap and easy, as all she did was take a yard of fabric (pink camo...my fave), cut it into a 36" x 36" square, hemmed up the sides and then made a piece that is about 1" wide x 1 1/2 ft long to use as the neck piece. One end of the neck piece is sewn to the fabric square, and the other has velcro to fasten. It may not have all the whistles and bells as the Hooter Hider does, but it does the job. I particularly like mine because it is made of lightweight fabric and folds into a 6" x 6" square that easily fits in the diaper bag. They can also be personalized. Mine was embroidered with the babies name and had a cute fringe around the edges. You can also put on appliqued iron on patches, fabric paints etc. I don't think I would be happier with the real thing. It gets the job done, and its a special piece, because its homemade.

hi, I make these. I have so many people asking where i got this. It is very easy. I don't have the measurements with me,but will be very happy to help. As far as the piece that goes on top. I used boning. I use this also on the airplane so when i feed,I tuck the bottom part under him so he has a sling and I am able to see him with the boning on top.

I love those big nursing covers that are almost like an apron around your neck and cover all of you and baby. There's a piece of plastic or wire that lifts the fabric up so its off of babys face so the two of you can have eye contact.

Check out ebay, you may be able to find one really cheap.

Loving Lactation ;)

My kids refused to allow any sort of cover at all, I ended up having to give up and just let their stubborn little heads provide the only cover. I hope you find a better solution!
