WAN: Wide Area Network - a computer network that covers a broad area (i.e., any network whose communications links cross metropolitan, regional, or national boundaries.

To configure access to your "WAN" (probably the internet) you will need to know your server or router's configuration. Most networks use automatic configuration (DHCP) so that your computer connects automatically. If that isn't the case for you, contact your tech person or internet service provider.

As a network engineer that has done WAN administration, and designed and maintained several MAN networks, you will be doing yourself and your clients a favor to hire a professional networking firm to assist you with this. You also don't state your experience with this type of work, so I can only assume that you are limited in your exposure. This is not a small undertaking, and the equipment to effectively handle even one apartment building will be very expensive.

WAN is used for wiring a city. To wire a building you would use the LAN configuration.

It is two or more LANs (Local Area Networks) connected together. If the building you are in has more than 1 LAN, you could theoretically connect them.
