You had a sexual encounter with someone other than your mate and there is no chance in hell he/she would find out.. Do you tell or carry it to the grave???

My questions are all in fun. Just something to discuss. In no way is this a reflection of me and my marriage. Please do not reply telling me i'm a horrible person because this is just entertainment!

It would be selfish of the cheater to expose the affair if the mate could never ever find out. The only reason the cheater would reveal it is because he/she is trying to ease their concious which would in turn harm the mate who is oblivious.

First off i would like to say that i would not think of you as a horrible person even if you cheathed. Love is not perfect.

Anyway, you said its not real so i will answer with that in mind. I think the secret should be carried to the grave because the truth will only bring pain. If you are in love you need to appriciate that the truth doesnt always help, infact it can bring uneccesary pain and tension into a relationship.

I am sure that most people would honestly try to take it to the grave with them, but as history has shown and the future will tell, those secrets always just manage to find a way out of the closet and at the worst possible time. I would think it better to tell now when you are ready to deal with the fall out, than to keep it a secret to only later have it blind side you unexpectedly.

And good entertainment it is, Red Bone! In answer to your question, I would carry it to my grave. Why tell someone something that will hurt them. What possible good could it do? Better to spare that person's feelings and try to be a better person yourself.

Socrates said many centuries ago, a secret can only be kept if only two people know it and one of them is dead.

That said, telling will on cause pain and hurt, so I would take it to the grave and tell no one while I was alive.

I'd take it to the grave so the marriage doesn't get ruined but you made out with another man but he doesn't know it he thinks it's all good so i'd take it to the grave.

There is no way in hell I would cheat on my mate. Even if I felt like there is no chance they would find out, my conscience would bother me too much to keep it from him. You will later end up hurting no one but yourself.

Telling them could end the relationship, but carrying around all that guilt could ruin it. The relationship would be a lie. I would have to role the dice and tell them.

I think most people would keep it a secret, but the price one might pay for the personal guilt is huge. Imagine having to keep something like that hidden for decades?
