Sharks species predate the croc by milloins of years.

prehistoric sharks existed at least 10 million years before prehistoric crocodiles. both were larger then, sharks up to 50 feet, crocs up to 40 feet.

crocs though are the least evolved of today's species, meaning the crocs you find in australia and southeast asia are pretty much the same as crocs 100 million years ago, only smaller. this is why some people mistakenly believe crocs are the older of the two, because they look just like they did in the era of the dinosaurs.

sharks have evolved a bit more, with many more species today than existed 100 million years ago.

Sharks exhibit their first major adaptive radiation in the Devonian (about 410-360 million years ago), though there were a few species around prior to that time. Crocs of various sorts don't show-up in the fossil record until the early Mesozoic (about 220 million years ago).

That all said, modern sharks didn't really show-up until the Jurassic (figure 208-144 million years ago +/-), and modern crocs until even later (the Lower Cretaceous, or about 95 million years ago).

So sharks win no matter how you slice this question really.

Sadly, all of the answers offered up so far are pure speculation that cannot be demonstrated one whit.

The correct answer is: neither is older than the other. They were both created on the same day.

The Bible tells us in Genesis chapter 1 that God created the humans as well as all the animals on the 6th day to reproduce ‘after their kind’ (vv. 20, 24, 25). ‘ After their/its kind’ is repeated ten times in Genesis 1, giving emphasis to the principle.

Gotta love this. Science majors think this is just a bunch of hooey, but, we'll all find out someday where the hooey is, and on that day there will be some pretty serious jaw-dropping.

The shark appears to be older, as it evolved 200million years before dinosaurs, whereas the croc evolved alongside them. The precursors of crocodiles did evolve earlier than most of the known dinosaurs, but as we recognise it today, the modern croc only appeared 95-98 million years ago.

Shark
Also a shark would kill a croc in a fight.

Obviously, the croc. It has been on this earth since the dinosaurs were here. Although then, they looked way different than the crocodiles today.

Evolutionarily, ancestral sharks were present on earth before crocodiles.
Individually, it depends on which crocodile you compare to which shark. On average both taxa have long lifespans.
