The skin of the yolk stretched like a balloon and you pierced it (steam pressure).

Ouch!

You increased the temperature of the yolk while maintaining a closed environment. The pressure inside the yolk went up. When you poked the yolk and broke the membrane, the pressure was released.

Next time poke the yolk lightly BEFORE you put it in the microwave, to allow the steam to be released.

This is also why we poke potatoes before cooking them.

It would have built up a good pressure inside and would have been held by the shell. Since I don't eat eggs, I am hazarding a guess.
