I planted purple Verbena last month. It flourished and flowered for several weeks and then the blooms disappeared. It's been 3 weeks and still nothing, but the stems are strong and green and nothing is dried out. We've had good rains and I fertlized them. I've read that you don't have to "dead head" Verbena so do I just keep waiting and they will bloom again on their own? Thanks!!

Even though you put fertilizer on them, go get some "bloom booster" plant food. I put it on mine every year and they go crazy. It mixes with water and don't get it on the foliage. You can find it at Wal-mart, Lowe's, etc.

it will flower again. it sounds as though you have done everything you are supposed to.

When you buy annuals, often they are forced into blossom- people need to see the color to buy them. Yours may just not be ready to bloom in the outdoor conditions in your neighborhood.

I have some beds with red verbena (forget the variety), but it is doing rather well..

I deadhead mine and when the stop producing new flowers or the stems get leggy, I cut them back by about one third.
