I was told, in past questions, that if you have to ask if it exists chances are that it doesn't.

But people have faith in God.
Faith is belief without evidence.
Must you have evidence to believe.

Yes I have in fact placed God in the same catagory as fictional creations.

There is evidence they exist, just as there is God.

There is also evidence he is non-existant.

I believe God was also created by the human mind...used as a guide to help a person get thru their day.

I think people in the olden days thought it would be nice if there was someone there to answer their questions and fix their problems.

If I wanted to be steriotypical I would state that God is a creation of the lazy and erotic human mind.

You are mistaken...faith is belief in EVIDENCE of things not seen...and the SUBSTANCE of things (things means spoken works in greek) hoped for. That is the big difference with God and the list you put down...you can see the wind blowing things...but not the wind...Im not sure who said the chances are statement, but most likely not a believer....even when you say you dont believe in anything you are believing in your not believing....You do not HAVE TO have evidence to believe...that is the worlds thinking...but you do have to have hope. I believe if you did a study in the Bible on faith, you would come to some new conclusions. I myself have had faith turned into manifested conclusions to many times to count, material and physicallly...If someone tries to tell me that God does not exsist...they are tooooooo late...I have seen to many miracles already, its like trying to tell me there is no wet and I am in the middle of a pool. as far as santa- the easter bunny and all but the witch, folklore of distorted stories that are meant to sway people from knowing the truth concerning Gods actions on earth...a witch...a sad distortion projected from the believer of evil instead of good to the wanting of power from a false hope. Hope it helps

Faith is not belief w/o evidence. Witches exist. Just a couple of things for you to chew on.

There is a God. To me this is indisputable. I see too many miracles on a daily basis that have little - if any - solid scientific explanation. Here is an example: Science can tell you when during the developement of a human still in the uterus, the cells will begin developing into the brain and spinal cord....then the rest of the body organs as well...what science cannot explain is how some of the cells (all of which are initially the same), begin forming the various organs. No rhyme or reason for it but it happens at a certain time and in a certain order.

To me, that is something occuring by divine intervention.

well I am going to answer you with a cliche, you know that there is air because you breathe it, yet, we don't see it. So y is it so hard to understand that there are people that believe in a God they do not see? It is respectable whether you choose to believe or not. It should also be respectable that other's have faith. I believe that some have more faith because they have "seen" per say. MOst people limit the definition of the word "Seen" to the sight, but the truth is that we see with more then our eyes, we see everytime we realize a different perception of perspective of a concept.

Personally I can't say that I have a lot of faith, but I respect those who have it, they have seen things I haven't; changes intheir lives that I yet to have. However, I am thank full for the blessing that I have in my life. You know when you get a blessing because there are situation in your life where you think that there isno solution or answer to it, and out of no where you get one. Once you start putting them together you start "seen" that God is there!
In short, we all got evidence, is just that some of us, rather look the other way and qestion instead.

When you ask if it exists chances are it doesn't? That doesn't really sound right. I don't really get that. If you ask if it exsits isn't it yes, no, or I'm not sure? People have faith in God. I have faith in God, you know. Yes, faith is belief without evidence. I would rather believe in a Living God than a statue or something. You don't need evidence to believe. That's the point of faith, you know? Believing without proof.

Santa Claus is based on a traceable historical figure.

The Easter bunny can be traced as well.

Witches do exist, just not in the Wizard of Oz sense.

To say people have faith in God and that faith is belief without evidence, but than counter that you must have evidence to believe is contradictory. Your trying to apply scientific method to a philosophical issue. The love of someone else is intangible and unprovable. In fact our entire existence is philosophically unprovable.

Comparing God to the Easter Bunny has no relevance.

Faith:
- confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, an idea, or a thing.
- belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence.
- loyalty or allegiance to a person or thing; esp. fidelity to a promise.
- the theological virtue defined as secure belief in God and a trusting acceptance of God's will.

I don't need evidence to believe or have faith. The 'evidence' is all around us.

What isn't taken on faith? Do you know for sure that what you see on TV is really happening? Did Moses exist, or did some writer make him up? Has any scientist ever seen the black hole or antimatter? Without assumptions that what we see and hear and touch is real, we would soon question our sanity and it would be impossible to live. How do we know we aren't dreaming ourselves, as in the Borges story?

well for Santa Claus and the Easter bunny it's kids, and they don't know much about the world to be making any decisions - so they're not very good examples. They're too young to be asking questions, they're innocent.
And to leprochauns, i'm sure no-one believe in them.. they're just a myth.
And yeh, in this day and age because of science I think you must have evidence to believe because the facts are right there in front of you.

What you have is an good question! But.......thier is evidence to god being real! For example I can name a lot! But again thats my opinion! everyone dosen't think the same. if you don't belive in god! I'm not going to jude you becuase My belives are not to judge and only he can judge you!--But as i was saying if you don't belive in him go about your life as to if he was real he would want you to spend the rest of your life untill that day of judgement comes!
