Bruce brand is very similar to most other brands for factory finished floors. You have to make sure that you "buff" the product out over the floor. Do not walk on for a few minutes until completely dry. I use the bruce brand myself and have seen footprints because it was not dry. Be careful, stay away from those citrus cleaners like the swiffer people, they will leave a huge residue that is worse than what you are experiencing. good luck.

find a Shaklee dealer and get something called basic H. it actually repels dirt. of course, on a floor, it will stay there, but a simple swipe with a dust mop will remove it. it will also reduce the dust that collects on TV screens, monitors and the like. It's one of those thousand and one uses type things. It works great for many jobs, even those that aren't cleaning exactly. a drop or two in a humidifier's water make it work better and easier, and stay cleaner. Just ask a Shaklee distributor to tell you all the uses for it. Amazing stuff, and not all that expensive.

I was told to use vinegar and water on our hardwood floor. There are also commercial products that you can buy at places like Lowes and Home Depot. Sounds to me like this could be a BIG project. This does not sound like a mop job to me. More like hours on your hands and knees. And when you are finished I bet you will find the floor needs to be refinished. It is very kind of you to want to help your neighbor but this is one of those things you should know how much time and effort you want to invest before you get started. Good luck and god bless.
