x^2/-x^5

is basically

x^2/-1(x^5)

now, when dividing exponents with the same base, you subtract them.

so, 2-5=-3

so we have x^-3/-1

A negative exponent on the numerator is the same as a positive exponent in the denominator.

We now have 1/-x^3 as our final answer.

x^2 / -X^5

Remember to subtract exponents when dividing

x^2 / -X^5 = -X^(-3) or -1/x^3
