Someone told me that's why they had to add the "until dead" clause because so many people survived.

It might save you for a while, but you can't flex those muscles forever. Plus the drop might break your neck before you could use those muscles.

No, that wouldn't work. People live because they aren't dropped far enough to snap their neck. At least that's how it is supposed to work. Unfortunately, old hangings were done by merely kicking a stool or platform out from under the individual. The rope only had about 1 to 2 feet to drop, so the person was strangled, rather than snapping their neck.

most people that are hanged do not suffocate, their necks are snapped when the floor is taken away. Having a strong neck would probably help not get your neck snapped but not help stop you from suffocating.
