Be yourself. If others don't like it, too bad. Worrying about how to try and please others all the time is not redeeming yourself. It's just doing the opposite. Just be yourself. Be sensitive to others feelings, but for the most part, be yourself.

Ah...good question. I don't think you, I, or anybody can. What slights and sins we have done in the past can never be redeemed. Perhaps, if we are lucky, forgiven.
The reason for life may be simply be the learning from our mistakes. Not the redemption of them, but the awareness of them and the effort not to repeat them.
