A mother of 23 years old kills her 3 children . Why ?

What leads a young mother to do such thing ?

Her youngest is 8 months old...which is the only child to survive. People that have never dealt with Post-partum depression have no idea how horrible it can be, and to have to go through a divorce on top of that is even worse. There is also Post-partum Psychosis, in which the mother loses all touch with reality. I was lucky. I was able to realize that I had a problem and get help for it, but some women are afraid of getting help, or don't realize that they need help until it is too late.

We will never understand why a mother would kill herself and the children. I have two of my own and I would never harm them. It is such a beautiful thing to give birth to a human being. You carry that child for nine months and then all of a sudden they're graduating from highschool. One thing I do not understand why harm the children. She should taken her own life instead of theirs. Only her life! I pray for the families especially the grandparents and other relatives that were close the children.

Here are my assumptions:
1.Postpartum Depression
2.Relationship with the children's father fell apart
3. Mentally ill (Bi-polar)

Probably stress from having kids at such a young age. No one may really know. Just like what led that one man to shoot 32 students at Virgina Tech? A lot of people have many problems. My first guess would be that she probably didn't have a good job because of three kids, and she wished she could go back and wait to have kids. But that's what I personally think.

Could be any number of things. Mental illness, not knowing how to provide for her family and snapping...the thing is that being a mother doesn't preclude you from violent acts. There is not a reason for everything. Everyone has the possibility of being a murdererer, you might say you could never kill someone, but everyone could. We all have that capability. This mother killed her children, there might not be an explanaton except for the fact that she is human and she made a decision.

I know, I just read it on yahoo. That pisses me off so much! If you don't want the kids, give them to someone who does. She was probably mental anyways. The 8 month old survived though. I am 22 years old with a 4 year old and a 10 month old, and I would never do such a horrible thing.

Having four children(one survived)at 23 years of age is not a real smart move to begin with. It hard enough when you are older and have only one or two. I have a son almost 23 and and another 28, I can't imagine them being saddled with 4 children at either of their ages. She probably didn't have any help or support(husband was not part of the scene). Feeling hopeless and helpless can lead to all kinds of horrible things.

There are some of these mother infanticides that are caused by post-partum depression. It can be used as a "defense", but there are truly women who become psychotic after delivering a baby—triggered by hormonal shift with or without an early history of psychological pathology with their own mothers. I had a dear friend who brutally killed herself and her two children under two years old..

exactly the reason why people should be vetted before being allowed to have children. There should be a license to have them or something then there would be fewer cases of paedos, phsycos or other such freaks having children. It amazes me that anyone could be so chemically imbalanced.

I understand a person can be mentally ill but nowadays they use the mentally ill card to lessen the punishment.
I, personally, do not believe a mentally ill person can premeditate a murder.
These people who kill their children always say God told them to do it... It was not of God, it was Satan.
They are innocent by reason of insanity..
These people are pure out and out evil..

I hadn't heard anything confirming that it was indeed the mother... I just heard they found the mother and the four childern hung (the baby -8 months old is holding on for dear life...). It's so sad...
