There's nothing to "win". The war was over a long time ago. It's now sectarian violence with terrorists trying to get a foothold in the void. "If" the Iraqi government and police forces can control the violence, most of our troops can come home. We'll never win the war on terrorism when regimes and countries around the world sponsor or turn a blind eye to their operation within their borders. Deal with them, and terrorism will diminish to a few radical groups that can be dealt with legally or with a limited military response.

win or losing shouldn't be the real concern, it should all be about bringing some sort of peace and modernization to the middle eastern region.
Iraq is in the middle and the cradle of society in that region.
Iraq could help that part of the world become peaceful or stay a hornets nest of venom.
Hopefully our being in Iraq will help the region mature quicker.
By the USA slapping around Japan to shape up, that region has lived in peace for over 50 years now...so there is some good that happens with some wars.
NOTHING IS PERFECT but it's important to not quit just because the going gets tough .

This is a question to which I've never been able to get an answer from anyone.
The fact is, we can't win or lose in Iraq because it isn't our war. By definition, the terms "win" and "lose" mean we've either gained or given something up. We aren't fighting for anything that belonged to us in the first place. The war in Iraq has no impact on American freedom. If Iraq disappeared off the face of the earth tomorrow, our lives wouldn't change one iota.
We are engaging in someone else's civil war. It isn't our victory or loss to claim.

You cannot win a war in which you cannot tell the enemy from the friendlies until you are being shot at.
If you just indiscriminately shoot people, you give the people that are riding the fence a reason to join the opposition making the problem worse.

no because the second we leave its going to turn into a Islamic state and there will not be anything that we can do about it .. also i believe that china will be there ally after that happens because they need oil and they'll make friends with anyone that 1) has something they need 2) hates us...and theres plenty of people that hate the USA

I hope so, but I'm not optimistic. My idea of winning would be to get the violence down to within +10% of the levels of violence that were occurring before we invaded. eventually this will happen.. but on our current track it won't be from anything we have done.
