My dog is a collie and a chow mixed. We recently came back from my grandmas house which is out in the country. She had fleas and ticks all over her and she is a black dog so she's very hot and scratching herself till she bleeds.

We decided to give her a flea bath when we got home and to shave her so she is clean,non-ichy, and cooled off for this summer. After we shaved her she was very sad, but wasn't as sad as she is now. Then we took her on a walk and we used a choke chain to help train her. My Dad was almost home with her when two bulldogs came up to her and started sniffing her. Then they started biting my dog. they were attacking her while my Dad was trying to keep them away and her chain got loose. Then she ran home as fast as she could and escaped the bulldogs.

Ever since then which has been 3 days she is rarely easting and drinking. She also rarely comes downstairs and is always sleeping upstairs.

what should I do, other then take her to a vet?

Lodge a complaint about the owner of the bulldogs, for one thing. Your dog was controlled, but they weren't.

For the rest- perhaps all she needs is a lot of time and love. Give her a good reason to come downstairs and assure her that it is in fact safe.

If the problem is a bit more extreme, you may need to talk to an animal behaviorist for 'therapy' for your dog. And your vet probably can put you in contact with one.

Good luck!

You did the right thing by shaving her and giving her a flea bath. Thats about the only way you can take care of that type of problem with a dog that has thick fur. As strange as this may sound.....sometines after shaving a dog they can react poorly to it. They know something was done differently to them and they don't feel normal. If this was her first time being shaved she probably feels a bit odd. She'll get used to it in time. Just spend as much time with her as you can . Make her feel special and give her extra praise. The dogs attacking her didn't help..... Stay close to her and comfort her. She should snap out of it in a few days. Good luck

Her having fleas and ticks all over is probably where it started. Then having to shave the poor thing also having two bulldogs chasing her,she probably afraid. Give her some TLC and extra attention and if that don't work call the vet. She is most likely afraid of going back to grandma's and having more fleas and ticks all over her

I would take her outside but in your yard. Keep her on a harnas not a choke chain. it works better. It stays bettter and they rarely know its there after a while. I would put a fan where she sleeps or put one down stairs for her. Put what she sleeps on in front of it. Put the fan on the lowest setting. Give her a treat when she eats and praise her. Do the same when she acts happy. Do something to make her feel safe. This will stop in time. When her hair grows back she will be even happier. You'll see
