Well no it is not the best film ever made, but it is good enough because of Johnny Depp...
It is supposed to be a true story of Hunter Thompson and I know Johnny worked with Hunter on the movie to perfect the character...

I agree with the guy called Fletch.
As much as it is a good movie, Hunter S. Thompson's writing is quite manic and it's somethimes quite hard to capture that in a film.
Benicio Del Toro was awesome as Dr. Gonzo, and Johhny Depp was his usual reliable self as Mr' Raoul Duke.

Terry Gilliam handled it greatly, and Johnny Depp and Del Toro are just amazing. You really should check out the book, it will bring you a completely new appreciation for the film.

The book is far better. Only Johnny Depp saved the film.

My fiance's brother/and his gf LOVE that movie, I watched it twice but didn't think it was that great. There was another movie they are obsessed about right now...something about a kid who is addicted to drugs (has his arm amputated in the end of the movie) and his mother basically goes crazy since she's taking these diet pills and over-dosing. In one scene the fridge is coming after her. It's a really weird movie...

I really liked it. My BF normally doesn't have the best taste in movies, so I wasn't expecting much when he recommended I see it, but I really did like it. Johnny Depp is an amazing actor...just about anything he touches turns to gold.

I also think it's a good movie, although the book is even better. It's hard to capture the essence of Hunter Thompson in movie-form. I think that movie did it about as well as it could be done. And Depp, of course, was brilliant.

It is NOT the book, and that is where the shame lies.
It prefers to focus on the excesses, rather than what he was covering

It's fabulous, a brilliant realisation of Hunter's book which is also great.
