Steve, we know why...and it is sad. Sad indeed. What else will you and I do when we know the two party system has ultimate control of America`s political scene. You and I know that for now, we would be wasting our time throwing ourselves behind a third party entity. I want that third party, or such manifestation within our present two parties. Will it be a third party ? Could a third party ever pull that off ? I see our "third party" being a more unconventional form of a Democrat or of a Republican.

I don't care anything about party politics. That is why I don't consider myself either Dem or Repub. I care about issues and idealogies. That is why I am a liberal/progressive! I only support candidates who endorse the same values I believe in, regardless of party. *sm*

People just have some underlying need to belong, so they vent without any knowledge of what they are arguing about. Labelling and stereotyping are just too convenient for the ignorant masses.

it allows them the opportunity/luxury of not having to think critically. no human being is 100% in line with any other, same goes for any group. we have a tendency to herd up with a variety of intensity. so when your affiliation with a group reaches the point of "tradition", it becomes a part of what you are.
some of us are blessed with no obsessive need to identify with any single group. for example...i am registered to vote as "decline to state", thus, i am completely non-partisan and can go in any political direction my intellect leads me.

People have chosen teams. The actual debate pales when compared to the us vs. them mentality.
