I'm something of a mess. I'm 71, but more of a nuisance is that I tote around a battery of "disabilities." I'll spare you to the details. Still and all, some mornings I forget all that and start out the day as if I were 18 again. My acting career began at 17, upon the New York stage, and I'm still a working professional actor. Sometimes there are unhappy consquences, yeah, but sometimes, too, I actually feel young, or younger. Full of energy and verve and nerve and ideas! Ah, it's swell. How about you?

I think my inner mind got stuck somewhere around 25 years of age, because I still think like the girl I was then....

Mind you, I was always mature for my age. I never indulged in the usual teenage rebellions and tantrums.

Actually, I find it somewhat of a shock to look in the mirror every morning before I wash my face, and see that old biddy staring back at me.

Since the body has started to go, I prefer to think of it as a flesh envelope anyway, that is just containing the "essence of the REAL me".

I loved the answer you gave to Cellophane yesterday:

"Perhaps the older men and women of your acquaintance are boring, but if you were to live the life I'm still living, at 71, you most likely would be overwhelmed. I am touring North America and Europe in a play, a hugely successful one-character play, and gosh I get so bloody tired of standing ovations! Yes, I'm old...an old professional actor...yes, as a person with disabilities I no longer run up hills, or down hills for that matter, but, dear heart, I can still make an audience weep, or laugh and weep again; I can speak the speech with such depth and resonance that, by my design, the audience leaves the theatre merry and happy, or angry and disturbed, or celebrating the two hours spent with me. Boring you say?"

Are you bringing your one person play to Toronto anytime soon? I would love to spend two hours weeping and laughing, only to weep again.

I am turning 65 and it's good to hear from another old timer. I am glad you feel good most of the time. I also love my vim and verve and nerve as you so put it. I wouldn't trade my years for anything. Of course it wouldn't hurt to be younger but I love my age. I also get more respect than I ever did in my younger years which is a plus. I, too, was in the actor stage of winning roles in Can Can and others but I lost by 1 person. You are lucky to be an actor as I would think that would be a great challenge. I was a singer and sang with lot of well known bands. I sang in Texas at the Shamrock and other nice places. However, I lost my voice from cigarettes. I have since quit cigarettes.
Anyway I'm so happy to read your question. I love life too the fullest now. I enjoy everyday. And you must keep up the good work. For time is precious now.
Suffered from a lot of depression in the young years. But what a waste of time. Now I can't wait for tomorrow.
Lucky like you.

As a young person (62), I am full of energy and am sitting square on that wall between young folks and the older crew because of it.
No! I am not an actor, just an everyday artist and employee for another company who hates the word retirement.
I am writing a book in my spare time though-using spell check all the way.
Sports is still in my life-broke my neck in 3 places, off a jet ski, a few years ago and after surgery was back at it again.
To sit and watch paint peel is NOT on my to do list, nor is watching others dance on tv-I still shake my boody with the best of the young set.
We all tote around our disabilities in one way or another, the trick is to accept them and keep going-God knows my knees have taken a beating over the years.
Have a great day!

Not at all. The only time I feel my age, is when I first get out of bed. Once I'm up and about, I never think 'old age' again. When I walk by a mirror, I wonder who is that old lady. (kidding). I've kept myself in pretty good shape and as they say "I can still cut a rug".

I'm still competing in world level international athletic events, and bringing home gold medals. Not too bad for 75.....
Oh, yeah. I've also had six books published and have just finished a seventh.

You are only as young as you feel. If you can keep yourself physically fit, it just does not matter what others think. Go ahead and enjoy yourself. And yes, everybody would like to see you play out many more roles.

I have always felt younger than my age or my looks and people do notice. I live life to the fullest on a day to day basis.

I say KUDOS to you!! You're as young (or old) as you feel.

Myself, I'm 35. My husband is 48 & looking forward to 50. Many times I feel that he is "younger" than me! Other times we have fun and I feel like i'm in my early twenties.

Life is good! Life is as you make it out to be...

I think young, but of course don'tlook it. So, I just go about my merry way and avoid mirrors that try to tell me how old I am.
