Does anyone really think any of our government is in touch with the people no matter what party they belong to? The majority of people in this country want the U.S out of Iraq and neither party is listening.

Rmaggendon..... I've never voted for an incumbent or a Dem or GOP in my 26 years of voting. I've always voted for an alternative party, either Libertarian or Green. Can you possibly vote for the good of the country by refusing to vote for the same crooked parties that got us here in the first place?

BTW rMaggedon... I didn't see any references to Abramoff, Delay, Frist, Foley, Cunningham, or Hastart. Are you being a little biased when mentioning only Dems who are corrupt? It seems like it.

Term limits are not the answer. The answer is to get lobbyists and special corporate interests out of government and out of the election process. It's the people's government and we are the one's that should be paying for it, not corporations. Corporations pay for it now through lobbyists and through the election process so they think it is their government to buy. And, by being lazy citizens and apolitical in the past, we voters have let them.

The big corporate lobbyists have the money and the jobs to offer. Under the Bush administration they have had an inordinately outrageous amount of influence. The affected big corporations have even written the laws that get enacted and the rules and regulations governing themselves. The interests of the consumers, employees and taxpayers have been subordinated to the corporate interests.

There has never been a law that special interests didn't like. There has never been a law which was passed solely for the benefit of the people. Even your Social Security money has been stolen or corrupted by special interests and slimy politicians to get the most profit from the Social Security trust trough. It could be a solvent system if it wasn't polluted with the fecal matter of the slopping hogs.

The govt works for entities that are actually corporations but they are viewed as a person via their SSI act. It is time for artificial entities to stop undermining the desires of real people, but, until groups of real people collectively exert pressure on politicians, the entities will always win.

"Many of you are well enough off that ... the tax cuts may have helped you. We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good." (Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton - June 28, 2004, in San Francisco at a Democrat Party fundraiser)

"I want to take those profits and put them into an alternative energy fund that will begin to fund alternative smart energy alternatives that will actually begin to move us toward the direction of independence." (Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton - February 2, 2007, at DNC Winter Meeting - regarding profits earned by oil companies, which are not [yet] owned by the government)

"As president I know I can't kill, jail or occupy every nation we don't agree with and I cannot just wish that all the terrorists be wiped off the face of the Earth" (Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton - February 10, 2007, at a campaign appearance in New Hampshire)

"We're going to change the way we finance the system by taking away money from people who are doing well now" — (Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton — March 24, 2007, at a health care forum in Las Vegas)

Can you show me a link to the site that has a poll claiming "the majority of the people in this country want the US out of Iraq?"

Not "The majority don't like the war" or "the majority don't like Bush's handling of the war" or "the majority think it was wrong" etc etc.

I want to see a poll where they ask "Do you think the USA should immediately withdraw from Iraq?"

Let's correct some definitions first.

If you are saying Congress, they do not represent we the people, if anything they resent us.

Where do you think the single largest group of $$$lobbyists are,,,,,,,,,,,,,, in government, cities, counties, states, employee unions, they are out to by congress anyway they can, the want more money in pay, in support, in give aways and pork. that is a bad, bad system

A spot in congress is a job for life. The vote has plain and simply failed. Congress learned about 60 years ago it could by your vote with our money, and have been doing it ever since.

A congressman from your state has every bit as large of impact on me in my state as they have on you, yet I have no say about how rotten or corrupt that person is. Feinstein is a good example, she sends $40 million to her bank due to her position and I have no say in it, which is just wrong. Dollar Bill Jefferson, caught red-handed on tape, they people that bribed him confessed and implicated him, and he gets re-elected again. Murtha caught on tape soliciting bribes, and nothing happens and he is re-elected.

This cannot endure.

Until we have term limits on congress this country will continue to decline, simple fact.

And YOU are going to have to change who you vote for, for the change to happen. YOU are going to have to vote for someone other than the incumbent. I can do it, been doing it for eight years now, and will continue, you see I care about this country, more than I care about myself.

DO YOU, can you do what is right for AMerica?

No.. I don't think that they are in touch with the common American Citizen.. not only on the issue of the war, but on every other issue we face. It seems they ignore what we need and try and make it about what's going to benefit them the most.

you know what? the "majority" are idiots! if wee pull out every thing will fall! i know lots who are volunteering to go! some of the soldiers what to come home because there not comfortable but the rest don't want to. if we leave the Iraq's will probably all die! they need us their until they are strong anof to go on their own.(witch they aren't right now) also if we pull out the ists will interpret it as weakness and attack harder. plus they would able to do more damage if we leave. and if we leave we would be doing a great misdeed to the Iraqis!
so its only fools who say we should leave.
and the Republicans are do a hell of allot more for the people the democrates. bush wont sign the bill saying that we pull out and that's do a great for the people both of Iraq and the USA. if a Democrat get hold of the white house we will be allot of trouble.

We elect leaders to do what is necessary, not what is popular. Too often, the elected ones get this confused and only do what is popular. The reason is obvious. they want to get re elected.
This is why there is a two term limit for the president and a lifetime apt for judges, so they can do what is right and necessary, not just worry about doing what is popular.
If you want American Idol, you have Barack Obama, if you want leadership, the White House is where you look for it.
