Does anyone else feel that Pirates of the Caribbean 2 & 3 are complete abominations & shouldn't've been made?

Ok, ok, so #2 wasn't dreadful, but it wasn't great either... and #3 should be shot in the face and buried in a shallow grave.

Anyone else feel the same?

I haven't seen 3 and don't want to. The second wasn't as good at *all*. I it when studios' response to a good movie is to sequelize it. I just want to shake them and yell, "IT DOESN'T WORK! FIND ANOTHER GOOD MOVIE INSTEAD!"

In many movie the original is always better than the sequels, as was the case with Pirates of the Caribbean. But not make the sequels! That would have been terrible! Pirates of the Caribbean is a great story and its the confusion it causes that leaves you hanging on for more! Its all the unanswered questions in the second one that made you wait so much for the third one, and the third one finished off the trilogy well. I was watching it and i was so caught up in it. I was wondering who was going to end up on which side and what everyone's fate was going to be. It was so twisted it was really good.

The 2nd and 3rd films were very well made with heaps of good special features like the CG done on Bill Nighy for Davy Jones. And there was just enough humour in the film for a great watch.

"Shot in the face and buried in a shallow grave" is a harsh statement. While for some it may have not been the best two films ever made, they we're definitely worth making.

I agree with Haysoos2 I liked them alot... I found it to be intriguing especially the characters motivations. Johnny Depp is an excellent actor and so is Geoffry Rush, and Orlando Bloom. I havent seen the 3rd one yet but I am looking forward to it. I liked the humour and the story.. I also think people are too shallow to pay attention and all they want to see nowadays is naked chicks, sex scenes and stupid horror movies about zombies or hicks yet again... Pirates I think was very good and it was fun too.. Not to mention far more memorable than 99% of the movies that have been released lately..

I enjoyed them all.

They were fun, had lots of cool special effects, and Johnny Depp, Bill Nighy and Geoffrey Rush were great.

One of the things I like best is that the characters all have their own motivations, and even when they are temporarily working together, they all have their own agendas and are ready to stab each other in the back to get what they want. Because they are OMG - Pirates!! What a concept.

Apparently this was too confusing for some people, who have called the films 'convoluted', because they're too dumb to pay attention.

i was in rapt attention on the first scenes of Pirates 2 because of the great production and effects, but i must have been mesmerized to much by the pageantry that i actually fell asleep right there in the theater. even the dolby surround sound couldn't keep me awake. a good movie for me has always meant a good story and Pirates just didn't hook me right into it's plot to keep my eyes and mind throughout its entirety. because of this, i don't plan to watch the third installment

Haven't seen number three yet, but I certainly thought that Pirates 2 was an overblown, underthought-out version of the first, which was a very entertaining yarn.

There were a few shining moments in the third one, but I thought two was completely pointless.

2 was bad. (too over run with special effects-damn you Lucas/confusing/hard to follow)

3 was better than 2, but no where near 1.

and they are planning a 4 :-/
