I moved in with my roomate and his name is on the lease. We had some prblem and now he wants me gone but I pay rent there. He stated to me that sense his name is on the lease then I have to go and he is gonna put mt stuff in storage this Friday and change the locks. And drop off the storage key to me. He said he ask the police if this was O.K. and they told him yes (keep in mind he is a big liar.) So I was wondering is this legal? for him to do this? Please help.

what state is this? I know in the state of Fla. if someone lives with you for more than a couple weeks that the person you are living with has to get a eviction notice..so you may need to call someone in your state about this.....Why would you want to live with someone like this anyway? Its almost the 1st of the month so don`t pay him next month ...Let him pay for your stuff to be put in storage it will save you money LOL...If hes a big liar be one back and tell his landlord hes done something get him kicked out if he gets an eviction it will be on his credit and then he`ll have a harder time getting a place

GOOD LUCK

Short answer: Yes.
Because you are not on the lease, you are not in privity with the landlord, but only with your roommate. It does not matter that you pay rent. The agreement between you and your roommate is presumed to be a Tenancy At Will. This means that EITHER OF YOU can terminate YOUR tenancy, and also that NEITHER of you has to give the other any notice.

Well, since your name isn't on the lease, your status is guest. Unless he has permission to sublet to you, you aren't legally renting from him and thus do not have to go through an eviction process.
He's paying for the storage, so at least you're getting a good deal out of it.

The laws are different state to state. But if your name is not on the lease, you have a problem. Call the local police and get some answers.
