As a public role model, she shouldn't have given up.

But as a human she has a life and I'm sure that her efforts were exhausting.

Even though she has quit, she has made an impact on a lot of people and perhaps someone will continue the movement.

It's easy for us in the sidelines to give our opinions but we are not in her shoes so we don't really know what she's been, and is, going through.

Cindy Sheehan is someone to admire and look up to regardless of whether she's in the forefront or not. She is a great role model for women, and for men, too. I regret that she did not get the support from us, the public. She's right, we are more concerned with the likes of American Idol, Grey's Anatomy, Dancing With The Stars, etc., than real issues. I say this because I see it in my very own household. Not I, personally, but the members of my household.

I have seen the rush to get home to catch the various shows, refusing to be committed or take appointments on their scheduled telecasts, discussing the results at great length with mutual aficionados, etc.

If only they could grant the same focus, enthusiasm, energy, and attention to more serious matters such as the nation's security and the wars being waged by our country, the strife going on in the world, and REAL LIFE in general . . .

You look up to her? To disagree with the war is OK, which incidentally she did not until it suited her purpose. The most awful thing a parent could do would be to disrespect her son's legacy. Its a volunteer military now (no you don't have to serve, someone else will do it for you) so he did volunteer and served and he was lost serving his country. His mother used that loss not to disagree but to gain fame and some money (she takes fees for speaking). I attended one of those to see what she had to say and you could see that she was really enjoying the attention, laughing, being the center of things. Hardly in mourning. And you could see that people with really dark motives were leading her around like a prize pig (no pun intended but OK if you found it so). She was not sincere and got tired of it when she was no longer popular and she could not accept that she was no longer in demand once the Democrats won their congressional races. She was a condom and nothing more. Now the Dems are in charge and she has just figured out how badly she was used and maybe what she did to her son. God Bless her son's sacrifice and shame on her forever.

That woman is one of the greatest heroes of our nation, right now.

The way she has been treated by our country is deplorable. It's not bad enough that she lost her son so a bunch of chickenhawks could sit on their fat rumps and blog about how great Bush is, but they have to insult her, too.

I'm glad she is spending time healing, and hope one day she is vindicated.

That woman has more courage than anyone in the White House for sure.

Good luck, Cindy, and thanks for trying!

She dishonored her son via doing her monkey dance for the cameras. people who do no longer approve of political judgements have a real to protest yet no longer use the ineffective as a foundation for his or her platform. removing the dictator replaced into real yet no longer making plans for the profession replaced into incorrect. that's no longer purely the president's fault however the fault of the planners who could have used history to handle Iraq. MacArthur's profession of Japan after WWII replaced into awesome. It replaced into much greater powerful than what got here approximately in Europe. the US could have formed plans for the Iraqi militia and police tension to have a bigger area interior the country's post conflict events.

She was sacrificing her marriage, health and her relationship with her other children for this cause. While it is sad that her son died, he knew that when he enlisted that there was a chance that he may not survive. He took his chances, just like the thousands of other soldiers. She needs to step back and take care of her family and health.

She's given up for one reason - once the media and the public became bored with her, she wasn't getting the attention she became addicted to.

Her only cause is promoting Cindy Sheehan.

Has she quit -- or is she only resting up for the next bout? I hope so.
