It's OK. As long as it was not you leaving 1 fireplace beside 2 cans of gasoline. That's just unnatural

Is the fire going? If not, you should be okay...

If the fireplace is going, then I don't know if you are okay or not. I would suggest sitting really really close to the fireplace to be a first-hand witness.
