hey there!
I have done a lot of research on this and would like to share my thoughts with you.
Before you start, think what product / service is of interest to you. Just because someone claims a particular business is lucrative, does not mean that its ideal for you. For eg. if you do not like or believe in the products / services of the business you are planning to start, you will never be happy working on that business.
At the same time, I would like to give you a word of advice. When I started my search for an online business, in the initial few weeks i was very cynical of every opportunity that came my way... I doubted everything because every business said they were the best!!! But then i realized that to move forward and select a business... its good to be skeptical but NOT cynical. Being cynical will never take you even a step forward. You need to be open to listening to different ideas and different opportunities and then use your due diligence in deciding which is the best option for you and then make your informed decision about it. Never let anyone sway you into making a decision... always make sure that you are the one who has actively decided into getting into the business.
Also, never pay a cent for beginners kit / information pack before you have joined a business. If the business is legitimate, they will not ask you for any payment before you have decided to join and they will always offer all information / support and help for FREE.
Another point I would like to highlight while we are speaking about payments is the difference between online jobs / and business opportunities.
You need to decide if you want an online JOB where you are working for someone else who send out your pay to you OR an online BUSINESS which is your own business.
Again, if its a job, I would say a legitimate employer should never ask for any money from you before or even after joining the company.
On the other hand, if its a business that you are starting, and you are convinced about the product, business model and you future, you must be prepared to treat this as a professional business and understand that there will be start up costs. How much you are willing to spend of course, depends entirely on your decision / and how much you are convinced about the business.
And finally, working on an online business means that you will be working from home in most cases. So be prepared to set your own times but have the determination to stick to it. It is very easy to get swayed and become lax and put off things till "tomorrow". Don't fall into that trap. Have a mind set that this is a professional business and treat it as such. Think what you would expect of an employee working in your firm and have similar expectations from yourself... because... aren't you your own employee???
I have recently started my own business from home using the internet and phone and after searching for long I finally found something which met all my criteria:
- Deals with something I am passionate about
- Gives me more than enough time to spend with my precious family and friends
- Is legitimate
- Simple to start and run
- Has a very low start up cost and very high returns on a consistent basis
- Not MLM or pyramid scheme
- No cold calling or selling
- Can be managed from anywhere in the world
- Provides residual income consistently
- Increases my knowledge and self worth every day by allowing me access to the best minds in the world
- Does not require any specific skills or talent
If you are interested in something similar, I would be more than happy to help. Just send me a mail at namita@leverage4success.com
All the best in your venture!
regards,
Namz

Just because they ask for money up front, does not make it a scam. If you own a big business, they ask for money up front and it is not a scam. I run a home based business, successfully, for a Little over a year. When I am recruiting people one of the first things they ask is how much I make. That is crazy because the way I run my business would be different from the way they run theirs. I have earned what I invested ($49) over a thousand times over. Our comp plan is so good, you will earn back your investment with 1 1/2 new members, not recruits. It is pretty good. Oh and we are publicly traded on the NYSE. If you ask on here about this company, you will get, oh it is a scam, but again, we are publicly traded. Anyway, just thought you should see, I am serious about my business and explain a little about home businesses with hope that someone will understand! Good luck!

The tried and true businesses are the best ones. They are not glamorous or overnight successes but they have proven the test of time.
-Baby Sitting / Child care (requires an aptitude with children), also the opposite side of that Senior Care...
- Ebay seller ( Requires a supply of in-demand items you can get at whole sale prices)
- Pet Care (need to like pets)
- Online Marketing/Web Design: (Requires artistic talent and marketing guile , plus a portfolio of success full ventures)
-Day Trader (stocks) (Requires $$$ ,usually a minimum of $25,000 is needed to play the day trading game)
-Baking / Foods Selling foods: (you need to enjoy cooking + you may need to get state/local licenses)
-Therapist
many more..
Most definitely STAY AWAY FROM INTERNET HOME BASED SCAMS none of them work , in particular those that ask for money up front to "Teach" you how to get started.

The company is called YTB Travel Network which has a Bill of Rights, Member of BBB and has it on stock YTBL. Which, I check out before I started my own business. This is a legit business!!! Yes, you can do it in your spare time and save money on vacation. Earn money while your sleep too. I do...
Did you know the travel industry is worth over 7 trillion dollar and plan to be 10 trillion dollar by 2010. You know the average family of four spends $3,000 in travel each year. WOW!!!
This is all free information and you can start your own business up for FREE.
There are two different types of business opportunities in this travel business.
Benefits:
60% commission
tax write-offs
residual income
medical and life insurance for free for the rest of your life
travel agent discounts
and much much more...
FYI - Don't let this business pass you by. It will take off with or with out you, due to the baby boomers. Ask yourself this question: Do you travel or even know someone who travels? Why not earn commission from their travel?
It is the same thing our competitors;Travelocity, Orbitz, Expedia, do and earn commission from. Why not you?
This is a great business to start up... That's why I joined... If you like to learn more on how this will work for you ,contact me and I will show you how...

Most likely, it would be a job that requires at least some computer skills. Most jobs that I've seen worked from home are in technical support and software implementation.

1. Take something you know and love
2. Figure a way to sell, teach, or make money at it
3. Market your service continually
This is the best way to succeed, within yourself.
