Because what you consider a good question may be different from what someone else considers a good question, because some people don't star questions, and because the questions that receive the most stars are usually the questions asked by celebrities or questions in which the asker asks for the stars.

Of what use are the stars? As far as I can find they have no point value, they are an ego stroke and a confermation that "someone" like this question.
As far as I'm concerned you don't need a star, YOU ARE A STAR!!

my questions arent that bad but i only get 3 or 4 stars the most...
