-hey, this was the same thing i wanted to learn - and no one taught me, so heres my advice based on experience.

a. join a group of your interest (preferably where you dont know anyone) so that you get the comfy feeling that no one knows any1, so its okay to be silly :) - since group members is not aquainted with each other - group introduces each other :)

b. join an outdoor group activity - this will give a purpose to the groups gathering at the same time get to know each other while trying to complete the activity :) be sure to help out other team-mates whenever you can :) eg: rockClimbing, caving, hiking, walking, kayaking, white water rafting etc.

c. join some diner-outs that can help learn conversations or movie groups - as long as its something your interested in or sometihg you'd like to learn or curious about, so that you can join in the conversation, activity and help out with the team :)

Hang with friends who are more knowledgable than you are re: social skills. Don't be afraid to ask questions any where, any time. Good luck

Smile a lot, and never ever say anything intelligent. Never stay on any subject for longer than a minute, and you'll be the the centre of attraction.
