Why is it snakes and cats have similar traits....?

Like for example...reptilian eyes and cat eyes have that same slit-like thing going on. And they both have the trademark hiss...

its not limited to snakes and cats. alot of animals have slit like eyes to allow them to see in the dark. also alot of other animals have a hiss like sound, even some bugs like cicadas.

Science will tell you that mammals evolved from the reptiles ergo the eye trait. I believe that due to their nocturnal nature the cats kept the nictatating memrane due to their sensitivity to light. i don't believe there is any reason to suspect that the hiss has a connection
