I don't know, I think some girls are scared by very stupid things, especially considering that horror flims are barely scary these days. Back when I was in high school, I remember talking to girls that thought the "Scream" movies were scary, but I thought they were laughable.

What's even more annoying, is when girls see a character like Mini-Me in "Austin Powers" or the oger babies in "Shrek the Third" and start with the "awwww." Gimme a break!

Well, you have to create a sense of fear in a movie. And you gotta admit, some of these movies have a cheese factor in them, also.

I personally have no problem with the stupid screaming girls. Well, if they're hot, that is...

Art imitates life. In the art, they've picked the one worst archtype to hound on - the helpless, senseless female. I'm not disagreeing that many women act that way when faced with something dangerous, in fact, I agree, as long as I place the disclaimer that there are plenty of women who wouldn't act like that - and those are the women I like.

Because if the stupid screamers were guys... it would be a comedy!

Who can resist laughing at a guy that screams like a girl!!

it's just a visual suggestion that it's a scary movie, when girls scream in terror, they really sound like they are in trouble from something. if guys are screaming, it's almost not convincing.

It is because the Director's and editors feel that it was an artistic ploy to incite drama to the situation.

Producers have to add volume to a film. If they didn't hav someone screaming , it would be less terrifing.
