Yes PC has become ludicrous and has extended to areas it was never intended for, chalk board, baa baa any sheep etc. It certainly has a place in society when used correctly, I cringe at some of the things I said in the 70's that are now rightly unacceptable.
I wouldn't say Orwell was a prophet! Just an excellent writer and visionary, like other authors such as Arthur C Clarke and the sci-fi writers of the 60's.

Yes, it has now become almost impossible to expose a certain group of people who are intent on wrecking G B plc.
Maybe we need an author like Charles Dickens to write a fictional story of our country and change the names and background of the guilty ones who have infiltrated the government and every other BRITISH institution in order to expose them and make the corrupt bubble burst.
They have well and truly put our backs up against the wall and it makes one wonder where it is all going to end.

I am dead against the idea of being "PC" to order but your question made me think how these ridiculous and extreme examples of political correctness do actually make you think twice before saying something that might offend someone.
I am no spring chicken and was brought up in a racist, homophobic, class ridden Britain. I am glad we have been re-educated to be more tolerent and my life is all the richer for it.
I still come out with the odd unintentional gaff though but am perfectly happy to apologise for it if I've offended the listener - that I think, is the way forward. We should all tolerate eachother's differences and seek to gently point out our differences of opinion to eachother.

it might have gone a little over the top, but it depends on the person. if u can say insulting stuff to them, and they see it as a joke, fine.
but i do wish that people were more considerate around others who dont see it as a joke, because they are really sensitive about the subject. e.g. when someone says "thats so gay"
sounds stupid, but that hurts me sometimes, since i have only just come to terms with the fact that i am....

Yes, this pc world is leading to an oppression of a whole group of people who are too scared to say what they really feel.
Exactly like '1984' what next? Rats for punishment?

I really dispare for all you young ones out there, I am getting on in years and yes there is so much gobbledygook and political correctness about it is scary.I think we are the most taxed, spied on, put on country in the world and its up to your young ones to say"enough is enough" and do some thing about it before its too late.We should all stand up and be counted, like the French.

PC has definitely gone to far! It prevents problems and conflicts from getting solved because no one can just get straight to the point!

I think PC hasn't gone over the top yet.. but it is a bit extreme.. I mean, you can still piss someone off without going to jail after all... what people need to realize is that part of the price of freedom is that other people will express it in ways that are going to piss you off.. but that small price is well worth paying.
