To reinforce to themselves and each other, their committment to their marriage/relationship.

Asking someone to marry you initially is a big deal...a big step. After years of marriage, asking them again, lets your partner know you have no regrets from having said yes the first time, and your love for each other and committment is as strong as ever.

It's symbolic, as nothing legal changes.

Some couples renew their vows during milestone anniversaries such as 25 and 50. Others renew them when they have gone through a rough time in their marriage and have worked things out. Some because they had a civil marriage before and now are making vows through the church. Some just want everyone to know that their love is still growing strong.

There are only two couples I know personally who have renewed their vows. My late great-uncle and great-aunt renewed their vows on their 50th wedding anniversary. I think that was pretty special. The other never had a wedding--they just had a Justice marry them. A Las Vegas chapel did it all out as though it was a first wedding. Very nice.

i had an aunt and uncle that renewed their vows on their 50th, my grandparents renewed theirs on their 60th. it is a way of saying after all these years you are still the one i love and i don't regret the decision, the work, the pain or sacrifice that we had to go through to make it to this point. it is also a time when an older and wiser couple can recommit with full understanding of what those vows really mean to them. some couples renew after having gone through something that tested or broke their marriage vows and they are stating to God and one another that they are now ready to put that behind them and start fresh. i cry much more at renewal ceremonies because those vows are given with understanding and acceptance.

To show to themselves and those around that they still feel the same about each other and would willingly do it all over again. My husband and I renew every 5 years. We have done this twice now.(We have been married for 11 years). Sometimes when you first get married, the wedding just isn't as you want it, so with a renewal, you can do it your way on your terms. Last year, for our 10th, we went to Vegas and had a ceremony. It was awesome!

When a couple renews their vows it gives them a sense of accomplishment. They have made it thought their marriage so many years, Through sickness and in health, therefore, they want to continue on and make the rest of their life as enjoyable as the last part.

A vow renewal isn't yet another wedding ceremony! it truly is in straight forward terms an person-friendly ceremony at a church or different area to easily re-state the vows the couple took years in the past. oftentimes it truly is performed on the twenty 5th, yet might nicely be performed on the 10th. it truly isn't any longer "required" in any respect; somewhat, in straight forward terms a small minority of human beings do it. some only have an anniversary occasion without the vows being resaid. it truly is in straight forward terms a time to have friends and family have a good time with the couple, who might oftentimes have the travellers to their domicile for a meal following the fast ceremony.

Maybe to start fresh?

I would love to renew my vows and start our marriage off the right way.

I got pregnant when my husband and I were engaged and we ended up having a very tiny wedding because my family pushed us into it. I would love to do it the way it was supposed to, for us and not my family. We actually used our original wedding date but everything else changed. We werent even happy on our wedding day because everything happened so fast. We knew we were going to get married but we didnt expect my family to plan our wedding FOR us in a week.

Most married couples who renew their vows do it because they want to share that moment with their spouse again binding them together for life.

For my friends, it was because they could not afford a wedding celebration at the time they were married. I was the witness, and we all went to to court house and they were married. 4 years later they renewed their vows and had a complete wedding. tf
