READ THE BOOK! Whenever there is a movie made after a book, you should read the book first. No matter how wonderful the movie is, and how perfectly it has been made, it cannot contain every detail a book has. I love books, and the best part about a book is that it allows me to use my imagination, and using the descriptions the author has made, i can picture a whole new universe.
And talking about the Harry Potter books... i don't know if you read the first 4 books, but if you haven't, you're missing out. You should read them all, slowly and with a lot of attention, because they truly are good books. Really good books, for children and adults in the same time. They are the type of books you can read as a kid, and then re-read them as you grow up, and each time you do, you find new things, and new meanings. I never get bored of them, and i read the first one 7 years ago. I'm still the biggest fan. The Harry Potter movies are good, and full of nice special effects, and really fun to watch, but they don't even come close to the books.
I'm sorry i wrote so much, i get a little carried away when i talk about Harry Potter... :-) Honestly, read the book first.

Read the book first - the plot and actions of the movies always make more sense if you've already read the book. The movies are edited and often leave out some of the funniest parts. The Weasley Twins' departure for example, is in the book but not in the movie, according to published reports. That scene alone makes reading the book worth the time!

I would strongly encourage you to read the book. If you already own it, what's stopping you from taking it down from the bookshelf and opening it up? If you set aside a little bit of time each day to read you shouldn't have a problem finishing before the movie's release on July 13th. I'm almost positive you will get more out of the film if you read the book in advance. I also guarantee the film will exclude a large portion of the book's content, so if you don't want to miss out on all that the story has to offer you must read the book.

I would read the book first, for more than the simple, "Books are better!" reason.

Firstly, the books are huge (and Order of the Phoenix is one of the bigger ones); they have dozens of side-plots and many, many little clues along the way that pop up in twists and surprises near or during the conclusion. They are very complex, and impossible to fit into a movie, even one that is 3 hours long.

By reading the book first, contrary to popular belief, you will be able to enjoy the movie more. As long as one doesn't expect the movie to be an exact visual copy of the book it is based on, a movie can be an enjoyment. I think that, given how vast the Order of the Phoenix is, the movie might confuse you later when you read the book, if you choose to read it after seeing the film.

For example, in Goblet of Fire, it is Dobby who steals the gillyweed and gives it to Harry; Neville does all this in the movie. It was easier to skip Dobby's involvement for the sake of time (and probably animation costs!) An entire sub-plot involving Hermione and her S.P.E.W. effort had to be cut for time, as well.

By seeing these types of changes take place after the fact, I think it will be easier for your enjoyment, since you'll know the book. The movie might give you preconceived notions that will be hard to shake.

the film is coming out in july. you have plenty of time to read the book. i say, read the book first. you'll enjoy the movie more if you read the book because it will give you an appreciation for the whole story. you will also understand the story better from the book as the films tend to leave out things that were in the book, understandably, since a lot of younger children can't sit in a movie theatre for more than 2 hours.

You have plenty of time to read the book. Think about what you have enjoyed more in the past, the films or the books. Ask yourself which one you are willing to sacrifice in terms of knowing the story beforehand.

My experience is such that there are very few movies that are better than the books they are based on. The Harry Potter movies have been fairly faithful to the books, and so you should keep that same expectation when the fifth film is released this summer.

attempting to make videos from the Harry Potter Books is, as an on line pal of mine positioned it, like taking part in Beethoven's moonlight sonata on a kazoo. So generally, i could recommend which you study the e book first or perhaps only persist with the books and not difficulty with the flicks in any respect. yet Order of the Phoenix is the duff get admission to contained in the sequence (each and every sequence has one). So for this reason i could recommend you spot the action picture first because it ought to have cut back out lots of the uninteresting bits.

Read the book. My husband hasn't read any of the books and he got totally confused watching the last 2 films. The books are so big now they have to cut huge chunks out for the films and you lose a lot. Bear in mind the final book of the series isn't out yet, and you don't know what the film makers might leave out which is going to be relevant to the last book.

I'd recommend reading the book instead of seeing the movie but if you're going to see the movie anyway then I'd do that first.

It's been my experience that reading the books first can alter your ability to enjoy the movies since so much gets changed or left out. You may find yourself, for example, expecting things to happen that never do or wondering why they felt it necessary to modify a certain character's personality. Read the book afterwards in order to get the full experience.

You should read the book first. The movies tend to leave out so much of the book in the interest of time that sometimes it's hard to catch the importance of little things that happen in the movie unless you have read the book first.
