Something that often works for me a baked potato. It may be the potassium or just "magic", I don't know or care. I just know that after a few hours of being sick to my stomach with migraine pain, I'll force myself to eat a baked potato and I start feeling better.
You probably should start looking for triggers, too. I tend to get them certain times of my cycle. Especially if I eat chocolate. But cheese, wine and other foods can trigger migraines. Try to keep a journal, so you can figure out what's causing them and prevent them.

feverfew is the most recognised herbal treatment for migraine and i know someone that takes it daily and swears by it but i guess its like a lot of things tho they work for some people not for others, im seriously considering trying them tho as i think they are worth a try, i dislike taking medication too the only things that work cause doziness. i have seen them in holland and barrett and was planning on getting some next time i go there.

I'm not sure about herbal remedies, but my mom heard somewhere that Gatorade is great for migraines. Being that I am prone to migraines, I tried it and it really works. I don't know how, but it does. Good Luck!

i found in a book that many migraine sufferers are magnesium deficient. i started taking a supplement (prolly 4-5 years ago). i noticed a drop in frequency and duration. i am also on preventative meds (prescriptions) that allow a few to break thru. it might be worth a try. as for the gatorade as a cure, dehydration can cause migraines so gatorade would help.

Hi Jenn Froebel,
The lemon can be your best friend when you have a common migraines. Simply cut a long strip of the rind and put it on your forehead – rub in the inside white part and then fasten it to your head. Sure, you’ll look a little nutty but who cares as long as it gets rid of the ache!

My local health food stores promote essence of Lavender for migraines. My homeopath also says it helps with stress and depression. Whatever, it sure smells good.

No, but there is another way. Studies show that if you think happy thoughts, the headache temporally subsides. After it has subsided, take a pain reliever and sit down with your eyes closed. Or, sometimes I focus my attention on the center of the pain, where ever that may be, and after a minute or two, it will temporarily subside and then you take a pain reliever.
