Iran has kidnapped 3 Americans and charged them all with spying. One worked for some left-wing George Soros organization, so clearly they are not spies. What if they are found guilty and executed or imprisoned? Between this and Iran developing nuclear weapons, what is the liberal answer for this problem? Iran clearly is pressing for war, so how do liberals deal with this?

A liberal would wait until the entire U.S.A. was blown up to do anything about it because they're so afraid of war.

you assume they will execute them? most likely this is just another cry for attention... there is no reason for the "preemptive strike" mentality.. because really .. what logic is there to we have to be violent to prevent violence? We should attack the Iranian problem like we did the USSR. The people of Iran are mostly pro-American.. and if we financially break their government threw sanctions and the like, then eventually the people will rise up and place a new, pro-American government in it's place. As far as nuclear goes.. Tehran knows that the fuel used in a devise is traceable back to the reactor it was created in.. and that if any of their weapons were "leaked" out that the rest of the world would turn them into a glass parking lot by the next afternoon.. he's crazy.. but he's not THAT crazy. It's not civil for us to go bombing the rest of the world.. for eventually everyone will be working on nuclear power.. science has a way of progressing after all... so Iran is a good time for us to test other strategies.. for right now there is only one anti-American government working on the technology (well.. North Korea also.. but they seem to be past Iran).. this is something manageable and we need to practice for the future when there will be many more nations who may take up similar strategies.

What should be done. Should the US bomb Iran? That's completely illogical, whether you're a liberal or conservative. Look at Iraq. The US bombed Iraq, but then it had to go in on the ground level. Four years later, things are still chaotic and our resources are being depleted. The military is being stretched. So what - now bomb Iran? If our military is already being stretched, how the hell are we supposed to stretch it even further to wage war on a country that is a hell of a lot more powerful than Iraq? I would say the average sane person would say the US MUST find a peaceful solution to Iran or our soldiers, resources and reputation will go down the tubes.

first - I'd have to know more about the people
in general if you do something in another country, you get no help from your homeland. I know a solider still in a prison in japan from the '70s because he had a flashback and shot a young man who walked into his room. here he would have recieved psyc care. he's been in jail there for about 30 years and probably won't get out any time soon.
second - iran tried to be nice after 9/11. our president didn't reciprocate. no one wants war, no one wants nuclear war. I'd send some embassadors to try and negotiate this issue.
third - we have weapons. other nations have weapons. more nations want weapons to defend themselves if the nations who already have weapons decide to use them. it is common for people to think that everyone with a weapon is planning to use it, it is common for people to think that if they have a weapon it is solely for self-defense purposes.
forth -if talks don't go well, sanctions
fifth - we don't send out people there, so none will be taken prisoner. if they countinue to ignore peace talks and further try to antaganize us and all othermeasures have been exhausted, we'll go to war. I wouldn't resort to military strike until we were attacked or strongly threatened first.

I hate to point out that we capture Iranians too. G Bay is full of illegal prisoners, so it's hard to say the US has the moral high ground here. I guess you'll call that hating America, so be it.
I'm sure Iranians think the US is pushing for war too.
My opinion is that we should not push for war. We should make it obvious that we want to push for economy between our two countries.
Usually when two countries are economic partners our interests become their intetests and their interests become our interests. Then there is no need for war because the economic interests are too high.

Leave Iran alone. Leave Iraq alone. Leave Pakistan alone. Leave Afghanistan alone. Let them do whatever they want in their country. If they do good things, they get better. If they do bad things, they go bad. Why should we bother? All these countries should be allowed to live a life of their own. All other countries must stay away and strictly impose sanctions if they do anything bad and allow them to suffer and repair themselves. If not, let them be part of mainstream world and do what they please.

Why in the 1980's did we do nothing while terrorists, backed by Iran, held Americans hostage for YEARS. I forgot, we did do something. Reagan sold them weapons.

engage them in peace talks, as well as the surrounding areas. Rebuild diplomatic relations with the rest of the world, and engage them in the talks as well. Baby steps. I definitely wouldn't drop kick that bees nest, flip the bird to the rest of the world, let the criminals go and invade a non related soverign nation...would you? Again?
