it has to be c) 2 ^ 3 * 7 = 8 * 7 = 56

None of the above. The prime factorization of a number is the multiplication of prime numbers that produces the number. For A) 8 is not prime. For B), 2 x 33 is 66 so thats out ... for C) 23 x 7 is 161 and for D) neither 6 or 9 is prime.

The actual prime factorization is 2^3 x 7

56= 2*28 = 2*2*14 = 2*2*2*7 = 2^3*7 which is answer C

Good luck

If answer C is 2 to the 3rd times 7. If it is, it might be better written as 2^3 not 23 (as some may be confused that that number is twenty three :l )
