Well I grew up with a father that worked a full time job, overtime when he could get it.
Then he would get work doing this or that when he was not working his full time job the family helped. I remember pushing brooms and cleaning empty houses, restaurants when gosh most kids would be at home in bed.
Was this harmful to us kids? Not at all.
So my father may not have been full time self employed but he did teach us kids that one never turns down work and one works to pay the bills, even if this means the kids have to help for the families well being....
Before I got hurt I was self employed, my own children knows what this means.....
