we need a pathway through the mass of lake weeds because the weeds get trapped and jammed in the boats rotor ... we need a path cleared for at least 500 meters boat width , the water is 1 to 2 meters deep so theres allot of thick dense lake weeds , using a sythe and home made sharp metal sticks is too much work , we need a machine of some sort which may run off of the boats motor , any ideas welcome , and websites with info on how to do this big job ....

regards

we cant use chemicials here and it is not accassable by means of a digger or dredger of any sort .... i am thinking of something we can attach to the front of the boat, attached to the motor which will preform cutting..... a lake rake is not an option because of the shear density of water weeds that hulk hogan couldnt pull up with one throw , it would break im sure .... im hoping for some website with photos of somekind of boat operated apparatus for this job

That is a similar thread and there are plenty of pond sailors on there who have exactly the same problem as you are having.

A lake rake is what you are in need of.
Basically it is a wide rake 3' or bigger with metal tines about 8" or longer and a 10 foot pole, with a rope attached.

Drag along the bottom of the lake it will rip the weeds from the roots and they will float up and you can scoop them and rid them.

I did this to a 40' pond and it took about 4 hours.

There is a device that fits behind the prop that looks like one of those Japanese Throwing Stars used in martial arts. It is designed for cutting through any rope that would otherwise foul the prop. You could then drive up and down cutting your own pathway as you go. Unfortunately I have only seen them in boating magazines, not on the web.

Among other specialist boats you can get a "Wilder Weedcutter" which will do what you want. There are other makes of weed control craft, some craft which you can hire for a day or two from the contracting canal and inland waterway maintenance contracting companies or possibly from British Waterways themselves. It will be expensive though!!

You can use a lake rake to do this, it is a fast effective way of clearing the weeds. However the weeks will be back with avengence.

Put weed eater string on your prop and let it cut it. Or you could a water hose in the lake and raise the water level.
